NFL Pick ‘Em Pools

These pools are easy to use and allow you to have action for the entire NFL season with just one entry fee. For season-long pools, you will go back to the pool every week and pick five games against the spread. Each correct selection is worth one point and each incorrect selection is worth zero points. For single-week pools, the same rules apply.

I will be giving out my five favorite selections and my leans for every game on the slate each week of the regular season.

Week 15 Picks

Picks Record: 39-31 (55.7%)

Texans -2.5 vs. Dolphins- The Texans were having some struggles, despite beating the Jaguars, heading into the bye week. That time off should have helped the team, and they should be very prepared for this important game against the Dolphins. The Texans are starting to flirt with disaster in what should be a runaway win of the AFC South. They need this win to cement their place atop the division with just a few games left in the season. C.J. Stroud and his receivers have had time to work through the kinks as things have not been quite the same since the injury to Stefon Diggs. The Dolphins rank 24th in defensive dropback success rate, so Stroud should be able to take whatever he wants against this defense.

The Houston defense should also be able to slow down the Miami offense. Houston ranks fourth in the league in defensive EPA/play and first in defensive success rate. After a week off, the Texans should have a great defensive game plan to shut down Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa has thrived on beating bad teams throughout his NFL career. He is 6-15 against teams with a winning record and 23-8 against teams with losing records. The Texans are the better team, at home, off of a bye week and only need to win by a field goal, so this is my favorite play of the week.

Browns +4.5 vs. Chiefs- The Browns have been very competitive the past few weeks despite finding ways to lose games. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have found ways to win games but have looked really poor in a lot of those outings. In the Chiefs’ past seven games, they have won three of them by exactly two points, one by three points, one in overtime, another by a touchdown and lost to the Bills. Kansas City only has two wins by multiple scores all season, making it difficult to back the Chiefs as a favorite. Patrick Mahomes is now 24-40-2 (37.5%) ATS as a favorite of 3.5 points or more over the past four seasons.

There is expected to be cold, rainy, windy weather in Cleveland on Sunday which should make the game sloppy and even harder for the Chiefs to win with margin. The Chiefs have been dealing with major issues on the offensive line over the past few weeks and Myles Garrett and the Browns’ pass rush should be able to get after Mahomes and cause mistakes. The Chiefs might find a way to win again but this should be another tight game that comes down to a field goal.

Panthers -1.5 vs. Cowboys- The Panthers have struggled to win games, but they are playing really well compared to where they were earlier this season. Bryce Young is playing with a confidence that has not been seen before in his NFL career. Over the last three weeks, Young is 12th among quarterbacks in EPA+CPOE composite, squarely between Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson on that list. During that same stretch, Young is third in the NFL in air yards per pass. For the first time in his NFL career, he has the confidence to push the ball down the field and take chances with a really solid wide receiver duo in the veteran Adam Thielen and the rookie Xavier Legette.

Over the past five games, the Panthers have two wins, lost to the Chiefs by two points, lost to the Eagles by six points and lost to the Buccanneers in overtime. They have been really competitive against three teams that are all leading their respective divisions. Against the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys, the Panthers are actually the better team at the moment. The Cowboys are 4-9 ATS this season, the second-worst mark in the league, while the Panthers have now covered five straight games. The Panthers should make it six straight covers by winning this game and covering the short spread.

Steelers +4.5 at Eagles- The Steelers have not lost a game by more than one score the entire season. They lost by five points in that bizarre snow game in Cleveland and then two other games by a field goal each. This team is built to not get blown out and to be able to compete in every game, as most Steelers teams have been through Mike Tomlin’s tenure. That is why Tomlin is the greatest coach in NFL history as an underdog. The Steelers are 64-35-4 (65%) ATS as underdogs under Tomlin, including 5-0 ATS and SU this season.

The Eagles’ offense has been incredible this season, but this Steelers defense will be a tough test for them. The Philadelphia offense ranks sixth in EPA/play but the Pittsburgh defense ranks fifth in EPA/play. The Steelers rank third in EPA/dropback and should be able to take away the Eagles’ passing game without taking too many players out of the box. That will allow them to put their full focus on Saquon Barkley and keep a spy on Jalen Hurts to make him a pocket passer. This should be a really tight game, and Tomlin should continue his excellence as an underdog and get the cover.

Bills +1.5 vs. Lions– This is one of the most highly anticipated games of the regular season, and it is a potential Super Bowl preview. Both of these teams have been incredible this season. The Lions have won 11 straight games and the Bills had won seven straight games before last week’s loss to the Rams. The Bills have already risen to the occasion once and knocked off the Chiefs when faced with another elite team. The Lions have done the same, beating the Packers twice and the Vikings within their own division. These two quarterbacks are also both in the top four of the MVP odds, with Josh Allen set as the favorite.

The Bills’ offense is on another level at the moment and Dalton Kincaid and Keon Coleman are both expected to return this week. They are the best offense in the league by EPA/play and in the top three in EPA per dropback and per rush. The Bills’ defense has a tough task but before last week against the Rams, they were a top 10 unit in EPA/play, EPA/dropback and EPA/rush. They should bounce back and have a determined effort after being embarrassed last week. These are two amazing teams but when it comes to making the one winning play or avoiding the one key mistake, I am backing Allen over Jared Goff.
