There’s two contrasting storylines at play for Barrett this evening.
On the one hand, he’s back to being the clear-cut No. 1 option in the Raptors’ lineup, as Scottie Barnes (ankle) is once again sidelined due to injury. Barrett has been a volume machine with Barnes and Immanuel Quickley (elbow) off the court this season, leading Toronto with a massive 33.7% usage rate across 935 possessions. However, the Raptors don’t just rely on Barrett for scoring in these scenarios, they also need him to be a playmaker. As such, Barrett sports a 29.1% assist rate with no Barnes or Quickley — the second-best mark on the squad.
On the other hand, Barrett has struggled immensely when playing on the road in 2024-25. The wide-spread narrative for the former third-overall pick’s rejuvenation has been his opportunity to return home to Canada, and Barrett’s splits really play into that perception. In 11 starts in Toronto, Barrett is averaging 27.9 points per game with a .627 true shooting percentage. In 11 road games? Barrett is producing 19.4 points with a .472 true shooting rate. Woof.
In the end, I’ll trust Barrett to hit the over on this prop. When Barnes missed 11 games earlier this season due to a fractured orbital bone, Barrett averaged 23.5 points and 6.8 assists per contest. That’s right on line with what we’ll need on Thursday in Miami.
