LA Clippers point guard James Harden was a surprise scratch in the team’s loss to the Houston Rockets on December 8 with right groin soreness, but it appears that the layoff caused by the Clippers’ group stage elimination from the Emirates NBA Cup will benefit him. The 2017-18 MVP is expected to play on Friday as LA travels to face the Denver Nuggets.
The Clippers will have to hope Harden has a good game in order to beat the Nuggets for the third time this season. In the teams’ most recent matchup, a 126-122 LA victory, The Beard enjoyed one of his best games of the season, a 39-point, 11-assist, nine-rebound masterpiece.
Even in the early stages of the season, every single game can make a huge difference in the ultimate standings, especially in the crowded Western Conference. The Clippers currently sit in sixth with a 14-11 record, and the Nuggets are a game and a half behind in seventh.
