The Giants announced on Wednesday that they’ll go back to Tommy DeVito ($4,400) as their starting quarterback in Week 15 against the Ravens, as Drew Lock ($4,900; heel) is in a walking boot. The Ravens have been a favorable matchup for QBs and WRs this season, but what should we expect from Malik Nabers ($6,400) as he works with DeVito this week?
Let’s take a look at his fantasy outlook.
Malik Nabers’ upside
Nabers has been a target magnet for the Giants no matter who is at QB. He has averaged 11.5 targets per game this season overall. In the one game DeVito started, Nabers had nine targets and hauled in six catches for 64 yards and 12.4 fantasy points.
DeVito attempted 31 passes in that game, while Lock attempted 32 passes against the Cowboys and 49 passes against the Saints starting in the last two weeks. Since the Giants have been playing from behind in all three of those contests, they tend to air it out, and Nabers gets plenty of targets as he’s clearly the team’s top receiver.
Nabers hasn’t found the end zone since Week 3, but has posted double-digit fantasy points in seven of his eight games since then due to his high volume of targets.
As far as touchdowns and points on the scoreboard, the Giants offense hasn’t been especially productive with any quarterback, so the change from Lock to DeVito doesn’t alter all that much for Nabers. The move may lower his ceiling just a bit, but he still needs to get into the end zone to really be a WR1.
The bottom line
The Giants are 16-point home underdogs, so they are expected to play from behind once again. Nabers remains a solid midrange WR2 with touchdown-dependent upside based on his matchup against the Ravens, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year.
At his salary, he’ll be a solid play in DFS contests like this week’s NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. He will likely get enough targets to put up 10-20 fantasy points, but will need to get into the end zone to really go off.
For the rest of the fantasy playoffs, the Giants face the Falcons and Colts, which are both also favorable places to play Nabers as your WR2 or WR3.
