After missing Sunday’s lopsided loss to the Nuggets due to injury, Jalen Johnson (shoulder) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday’s NBA Cup quarterfinal against the Knicks. Bogdan Bogdanovic (quad) is also questionable.
It probably shouldn’t be that much of a shock that Atlanta was blown out with Johnson sidelined. While on/off splits can be a little noisy, the Hawks sport a +1.3 net rating with Johnson on the court so far in 2024-25. Conversely, with the forward on the bench, Atlanta has been outscored by a whopping 11.7 points per 100 possessions.
In his fourth season out of Duke, Johnson is averaging career-highs in points per game (19.8), rebounds per game (9.9), assists per game (5.5) and usage rate (22.5). Larry Nance Jr. stepped into the Hawks’ starting five with Johnson unavailable versus Denver and the veteran registered 16 points and four rebounds in just 24.4 minutes of action. Both he and De’Andre Hunter are names to watch in DFS if Johnson is forced to sit once again.
