Is Jahmyr Gibbs or David Montgomery the better DFS pick in Week 15?

The Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs ($7,500) and David Montgomery ($7,000) are the best running back duo in the league and are always both strong options. The two backs have nearly seen the same exact amount of carries this season, with Montgomery at 180 and Gibbs at 178, but the latter has had the advantage in the passing game.

Gibbs has handled an 11.8% target share and a 50% route rate, while Montgomery has seen a 9.2% target share and 32% route rate. In the red zone, Gibbs has out-targeted Montgomery eight to three. This edge in the receiving department makes Gibbs the better DFS target for this Sunday’s matchup vs. the Bills.

This season, Buffalo is allowing the second-most catches (74), second-most receiving touchdowns (five), and third-most receiving yards to running backs (579). On the other hand, the Bills are giving up the 10th-fewest rushing touchdowns to running backs (eight), which doesn’t bode well for Montgomery. This season, 33% of the veteran’s FPTS have come via rushing touchdowns.

Evident from this game’s week-high 54.5-point total and tight 2.5-point spread on the DraftKings Sportsbook, this clash of Super Bowl contenders should be a back-and-forth shootout. Gibbs has one of the highest ceilings of Sunday’s main slate in this spot. In eight contests with totals of 50 points or greater this season, Gibbs has produced 20.2 FPTS per game.
