Caitlin Clark’s meteoric rise continues as the Fever star and burgeoning basketball icon has been named the Time Athlete of the Year.

Clark is coming off a year that saw her make a run to the National Title game in her National Player of the Year senior campaign at Iowa (averaging 31.6 points, 8.9 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game) before taking her talents to Indiana and the WNBA, where she earned Rookie of the Year honors and averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.

On Tuesday’s edition of GoJo and Golic, Mike Golic Jr., Mike Golic Sr. and Oddball co-host Charlotte Wilder weighed in on the latest honor that has been added to Clark’s growing resume.

GoJo says lots of kids are already looking up to Clark because of the flair she’s brought to the game of basketball. While acknowleding the up-and-down nature of her rookie season in the W, partially due to the attention and scrutiny she received and the conversaton surrounding her, GoJo says this is an understandable and completely deserved honor for one of the most important athletes in all of sports.

Senior says Caitlin has done so much for sports in general, as well as women’s sports and women’s basketball in particular. He says it’s been stunning to see how much she’s already grown the game. As GoJo points out, everything she touches turns to gold at the moment — right down to, as Senior points out, having the second-highest sale for a women’s sports trading card of all-time — and Caitlin doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Clark is currently second in WNBA MVP odds for next season on DraftKings Sportsbook at +250 and her Fever squad has the fifth-best odds to win the WNBA title at +1100.
