Mike Gesicki ($5,600)
Lost by being buried in the standings is how impressive this Cincinnati offense continues to be. The unit is seventh in EPA per play and fifth in EPA per pass. The superstar quarterback and wideouts deserve the bulk of the credit, but Mike Gesicki has been a steady outlet who has helped give this pass-catching core more versatility.
The veteran tight end has bounced around in recent years but has enough talent to keep landing starting roles. Gesicki is a massive 6’6″ and athletic enough to climb the ladder and snatch the rock out of the air downfield or provide a large target near the sticks. His size has been valuable in the red zone, only scoring two touchdowns but consistently garnering ample attention, which frees up teammates to cross the goal line.
Gesicki has been a bit inconsistent but is coming off a solid outing where he had five receptions for 53 yards. Squaring off with a Dallas group that fails to generate stops any competent attack, Gesicki should garner plenty of opportunities for a monster performance.
KaVontae Turpin ($3,000)
Dallas sorely lacks a spark. Outside of their All-Pro pass catcher, no one on this team can routinely create chunk plays. The ground game has been largely inept until last week, and the secondary receivers struggle to get open. There is hope, an X-Factor on the roster who just needs to see an uptick in usage: KaVontae Turpin.
The former USFL MVP has made waves in the NFL as a special teams ace but is trying to translate his abilities to offense. Turpin is a lightning rod with blazing speed and next-level acceleration. He’s almost impossible to tackle in a phone booth and consistently makes defenders look like they’re on ice skates.
Turpin led the club in receiving yards in the recent game and proved he can do damage in the slot. As long as he remains a staple option of the 11 personnel packages, Turpin warrants dark horse DFS consideration.
