The Seahawks come into this week’s matchup against the Cardinals in the top spot in the NFC West after beating Arizona two weeks ago in Seattle. They rallied past the Jets while Arizona lost in Minnesota, so they have a one-game lead coming into Week 14. What they won’t have is starting running back Kenneth Walker III (ankle/calf), who was originally listed as questionable but was downgraded to out on Saturday afternoon. Without K9, Zach Charbonnet ($4,800) will likely be very busy and a nice fantasy football play against the Cards.
Let’s take a look at his upside:
Zach Charbonnet brings RB1 potential
Walker missed Week 2 and Week 3 early in the season and Charbonnet stepped up with 38 yards, a touchdown and 17.9 fantasy points against the Patriots followed by 25.7 fantasy points against the Dolphins in his best game of the season.
When Walker returned, Charbonnet’s workload almost disappeared. He did get six carries for 22 yards against the Cardinals two weeks ago and then had four carries for 28 yards and two catches for 13 yards against the Jets. He scored the game-winning touchdown and had 12.1 fantasy points, his best total since Week 3.
With Walker out, Charbonnet will get all the work he can handle. Kenny McIntosh ($4,000) is the third-string back but has only had four carries for 16 yards all season.
Charbonnet will get a good matchup against the Cardinals, who rank in the middle of the pack against running backs. Running backs have averaged 99.2 rushing yards and 37 receiving yards against Arizona while scoring 10 total touchdowns.
The Bottom Line
In DFS contests like the NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st], Charbonnet is a great value under $5,000 and brings a good ceiling at his affordable salary. His ceiling is touchdown-dependent since he averages only 3.5 yards per carry, but he should get enough volume to offer solid returns.
The Seahawks are three-point underdogs and Charbonnet is +100 to find the end zone.
