Karl-Anthony Towns is having a great first season with the Knicks. New York is fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and they won their group to advance to the knockout stage of the NBA Cup. Towns and Jalen Brunson have quickly established a good connection. Brunson and Towns are one of three teammate duos to both rank top-12 in scoring along with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, plus Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Towns is actually just ahead of Brunson as the Knicks’ leading scorer heading into this game.
Towns is the second-leading rebounder in the league behind Nikola Jokic. Towns is averaging 13.2 rebounds per game this season with the Knicks compared to 8.3 rebounds per game last season in Minnesota. My favorite bet for Towns in this game is for him to continue that rebounding trend and go over 12.5 rebounds against the Pistons. Detroit is 17th in the NBA in opponent team rebounds per game. Detroit also doesn’t have a player in the top 20 in the league in defensive rebounding, while Towns has been great on the offensive boards. Towns should be able to crash the boards on both sides of the floor and get over this number for the fourth straight game in December.
