UPDATE: On Saturday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Goedert would land on IR and miss at least the next four games.
#Eagles standout TE Dallas Goedert is headed to Injured Reserve because of his knee injury, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo.

The Eagles plan on him being back at 100% for the playoffs, but until then, Grant Calcaterra will get another chance as the team’s top tight end.
The Eagles get a great matchup for fantasy football this week as they host the Panthers, but they won’t be at full strength with Dallas Goedert (knee) ruled out. Last week, coach Nick Sirianni said the tight end was “week to week,” and he’ll miss at least one week after leaving last Sunday’s win over the Ravens. Without Goedert, Grant Calcaterra ($3,500) becomes an interesting fantasy football sleeper since he’ll be the team’s top tight end.
Grant Calcaterra’s upside
Last week, Calcaterra played 27 snaps but wasn’t targeted, which is normal in his role as second tight end. However, when Goedert missed four games with a bad hamstring earlier in the year, Calcaterra stepped up with an average of 3.3 catches for 40.0 yards
He had five catches for 30 yards in Week 9 against the Jaguars and had a season-high 10.7 fantasy points on four catches for 67 yards in Week 6 against the Browns.
Calcaterra wasn’t an especially high-volume option but did make the most of his mostly short targets. In total this season, he has 17 catches for 20 yards and 216 yards.
He gets some added juice from the matchup since no team in the NFL has allowed more fantasy points to tight ends this year than the Panthers. Tight ends have averaged 63 yards per game against the Panthers and have scored a total of nine touchdowns.
The bottom line
I wouldn’t start Calcaterra over a more established option, but he can be a flier play in deep leagues or desperate situations. In the matchup, he’s probably a top-20 tight end this week but isn’t pressing to join the top 10.
The Eagles are 13.5-point favorites at home, and Calcaterra is +280 to score his first touchdown of the season.
