Right-hander Shane Bieber was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. In seven MLB seasons, Bieber has been selected to two All-Star teams and had a particularly memorable 2019-20 season, pitching 214.1 innings with a 10.88 K/9, 1.68 BB/9, a 15-8 record, and a 3.32 FIP. That earned him the Cy Young Award along with being the AL wins, ERA and strikeout leader.
Injuries have derailed his career, though, as he has only one 200 inning season since then with three sub-100 innings pitched seasons. Bieber only lasted 12 innings last year before undergoing Tommy John surgery.
On Friday, Bieber agreed to remain with the Guardians on a one-year contract with a player option for the second season, per Robert Murray of Fansided.
