I had to do a double-take when I checked the Wizards’ record today. The 2-17 juggernauts of the East (facetious) will host the 14-8 Dallas Mavericks tonight. Luka Doncic is putting up another strong season, but his numbers are actually down across the board. Last season he averaged 33.9 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 9.8 APG. This season he’s putting up 29.1 PPG, 7.9 RPG, and 7.8 APG. It’s a testament to the caliber of player he is that his current numbers are actually disappointing given what we’ve seen from the 25 year old wonder kid.

Points 29.5 (Over -115 / Under -115): The Wizards are rank 29th in the league in defensive efficiency, just second from dead-last. They’ve been surrendering almost everything defensively and offer little resistance versus opponent teams. Doncic is recently returned from a five-game absence and has put up 36 and 37 points in two games since. I think 29.5 is a little too pessimistic for his matchup tonight, and there’s good value here in taking the Over.
Rebounds 7.5 (Over -130 / Under +100): Doncic is a great rebounder, especially for his position, but I’d lean Under for this prop. The Wizards are 23rd in the league in rebounds conceded and are actually one of the more solid teams when it comes to denying opponent rebounds. They have strong rebounders in Jonas Valanciunas and rookie defensive sensation Alex Sarr. To be fair, the Mavs are not poor rebounders either, averaging the 8th most rebounds per-game this season, but it’ll be tough for Doncic to clear this number tonight. There’s value in going Under, especially if this game becomes uncompetitive by the middle of the fourth quarter.
