The Sacramento Kings, with a 10-12 record, would be the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference if the season ended today. But, unfortunately for the Kings, they play in the West, where their season has them sitting in 12th instead. Sacramento will look to close the gap between itself and the playoff picture as it takes on the perpetually banged-up Memphis Grizzlies, who have come out the gates hot at 14-8.
The Kings made one of the biggest additions of the offseason by adding forward DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade, but it’s been their longest-tenured player, point guard De’Aaron Fox, leading the line once again. Fox is having arguably the best season of his career, averaging 27.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.

De’Aaron Fox 3+ Three-Pointers Made (+150)
Fox has never been known as a three-point sniper, even dating back to his college days at Kentucky. But the southpaw has demonstrated continued improvement throughout his career and appeared to turn a corner in 2023-24, hitting 36.9% of his 7.8 three-point attempts per game. He has continued his solid form this year, hoisting 6.3 attempts per game and draining them at a 35.5% clip.
Fox faces a favorable matchup tonight in a Memphis defense that has allowed teams to attempt 39.8 shots per game from distance, partially owing to the presence of 2022-23 Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. in the middle. While Fox is primarily a slasher, taking 40.9% of his shots from within ten feet, players shoot 1.5% worse against the Grizzlies in that range. Fox has hit at least three three-pointers in seven of his last 10 games, and I expect that to continue tonight.
De’Aaron Fox O1.5 Steals (+100)
Fox has also shown some improvement as a defender in recent years, finishing as the steals leader in 2023-24. This season, he has continued to demonstrate his ability as an effective ball hawk, ranking fourth among qualified players with 3.7 deflections per game. Meanwhile, Memphis is a relatively sloppy ball-handling team, allowing opponents to generate an average of 9.1 steals per game, the eighth-highest rate in basketball. Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is especially erratic, ranking sixth in the league with 3.9 turnovers per game. Facing such a favorable matchup, fans can expect Swipa to live up to his name tonight.
