The Celtics are playing their third game in four days on Wednesday when they welcome in the Pistons. Detroit is fresh off a Tuesday-night loss to the Bucks that ended their NBA Emirates Cup run, and the Celtics are heavily favored by 13.5-points on DraftKings Sportsbook with the over/under set at 221.
The Celtics have given several key players in their rotation time off in their recent games with Jaylen Brown ($8,200) and Derrick White ($6,600) missing Sunday’s contest and Kristaps Porzingis ($7,000), Sam Hauser ($4,500) and Al Horford ($4,900) missing Monday. None of those five players are on the injury report for Wedensday, but Jayson Tatum ($10,200; knee) and Jrue Holiday ($5,000; knee) are questionable. If Tatum ends up taking his turn and missing his first game of the season, one very interesting bargain play to consider is Drew Peterson ($3,500), who has burst onto the scene as a major contributor in the past few games for Boston.

PF Drew Peterson, Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons, $3,500
In the first 19 games of the season, Peterson played just eight total minutes for the Celtics. Peterson went undrafted out of USC in 2023 and has been working in the G League primarily for the past two seasons. He averaged 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals in his five games with the Maine Celtics this season. With the Celtics shorthanded, the two-way player has gotten a chance to make a splash in the last few games.
Peterson played 25 minutes on Sunday against Cleveland and hit two three-pointers on his way to 15.5 fantasy points. He played 26 minutes on Monday against Miami and finished with 18.25 fantasy points on seven points and seven rebounds.
If Tatum ends up playing, Peterson may end up out of the rotation entirely, but if the Celtics call on him to fill more minutes again on Wednesday, Peterson has lots of upside for a player under $4,000. Especially if there’s garbage time at the end of a blowout, Peterson could end up continuing his push to earn more playing time.
