Updated:

By: Grant Afseth

With six NBA matchups scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, several key games could provide valuable betting opportunities on DraftKings Sportsbook. Here are my top betting picks for today’s NBA slate.

Here’s a look at the full schedule for today’s games:

Pistons at Celtics, 7:30 p.m. EST
Pacers at Nets, 7:30 p.m. EST
Lakers at Heat, 7:30 p.m. EST
Magic at 76ers, 7:30 p.m. EST
Hawks at Bucks, 8:00 p.m. EST
Timberwolves at Clippers, 10:30 p.m. EST

Editor’s note: Clippers G Norman Powell was ruled out for tonight’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to hamstring management.

Pacers -2.5 (-108)

The Pacers have been struggling on the road, with a seven-game losing streak away from home. They’ll face the Nets, who are also battling injuries. Brooklyn is missing key players, including Cam Thomas (left hamstring), Dorian Finney-Smith, and Ben Simmons, who are questionable. The Nets have lost three straight, including a blowout loss to the Chicago Bulls, where their defense faltered severely.

Tyrese Haliburton has improved after a rough start to the season, scoring 30 points against the Raptors in his previous performance. However, he’s only averaged 13.4 points during road games this season. The Pacers must capitalize on a weakened Nets squad to improve as a road team. Despite their struggles, the Pacers’ offense, led by Haliburton, should be enough to cover the -2.5 spread in this matchup.

Heat -1.5 (-108)

The Heat will face the Lakers in a highly anticipated matchup. Both teams have been inconsistent, with the Lakers at 12-9 and the Heat at 9-10. The Lakers’ star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis has been solid, but they’ve struggled with consistency, especially in recent losses. On the other hand, Miami is also coming off two straight defeats and has seen Tyler Herro lead the team with 23.7 points per game.

The Lakers could be without Austin Reaves, who is questionable amid other injury concerns. Miami’s depth could prove too much for Los Angeles. Bam Adebayo’s versatility helps Miami matchup against Davis as well. If Jimmy Butler plays despite being questionable on the injury report, the Heat should have enough firepower to cover the -1.5 spread.

Magic -5.5 (-110)

Orlando has played solid basketball without Paolo Banchero, winning 12 of its last 13 games. However, it suffered a tough loss to the Knicks, allowing 121 points and struggling with turnovers. The Magic’s recent performance against the Nets, which showed resilience despite foul trouble, bodes well as it faces the 76ers without Joel Embiid (knee) and Paul George (knee).

The 76ers have managed to win without Embiid but have been inconsistent, and their win against Charlotte didn’t come easy. The Magic, led by Franz Wagner, who has averaged over 25 points per game in Banchero’s absence, should cover the -5.5 spread in this one. Orlando’s defense should be strong enough to set the tone, with Wagner guiding the offense and pushing them over the top.

Bucks -4 (-112)

The Bucks have been in a significant rhythm lately, winning seven games in a row and coming off a dominant 128-107 victory over the Pistons. Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to be an unstoppable force. Damian Lillard has also been a key contributor, helping lead the Bucks to their recent success. After a slow start to the season, the Bucks are 9-1 in their last 10 games.

The Hawks have won four straight but face a tough challenge against the Bucks, the hottest team in the East. With Antetokounmpo back at full strength and Lillard playing well, the Bucks have a favorable outlook to cover the -4 spread.

Norman Powell Over 19.5 Points (-105)

Norman Powell has been consistent for the Clippers, averaging 23.9 points per game this season. He’s had 13 games with 20+ points, showing he can step up as a scorer when needed. And that need has often come with Kawhi Leonard yet to play this season and George’s off season departure. Powell will have the opportunity to impact tonight’s game against the Timberwolves, who are dealing with defensive inconsistencies.

With Powell’s scoring ability, he could easily surpass the 19.5-point threshold. His efficiency and knack for finding scoring opportunities will make this a favorable bet.
