Is Braelon Allen a must-start in Week 14 if Breece Hall sits?

Breece Hall ($7,000) has been dealing with a knee injury since the Jets’ bye and the back will not practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Dolphins. Hall was listed as questionable for last Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks, but he played through that designation. However, Hall logged a season-low 62% of the snaps and he only finished with 7.0 FPTS.

Given the Jets are now 3-9 after their loss to Seattle and eliminated from postseason contention, Hall sitting this Sunday wouldn’t be surprising in anyway and if that is the case, Braelon Allen ($5,000) will become New York’s lead back.

The rookie has struggled as a rusher, averaging only 3.6 yards per carry, but Allen is scoring a solid 0.33 FPTS per snap and 0.81 FPTS per touch, given his solid efficiency as a pass catcher. Allen has produced 9.7 FPTS per game for the five instances he has received at least eight touches and Hall’s absence would likely result in 15-20 touches for Allen.

His matchup vs. the Dolphins is average – Miami is giving up the 14th-most yards per rush this season – but Allen would be a solid start for season-long leagues if Hall sits based off sheer volume. Additionally, Allen’s $5,000 salary for DFS on DraftKings doesn’t reflect a potential starting role and he will be an intriguing value play for all formats if Hall is inactive.
