It’s a six-game, twelve-team slate of NBA action on Wednesday. That includes marquee matchups such as LeBron James and the Lakers visiting the Heat in South Beach. With plenty stars across the association taking the floor, narrowing down a select group of big names to start in season-long fantasy and DFS formats is no easy task. Here are the three guards at the top of tonight’s board:

1. Damian Lillard, Milwaukee Bucks vs. ATL ($9,600)
The Bucks are the hottest team in the NBA, having won seven straight games. Key to Milwaukee’s success has been Damian Lillard; the veteran is averaging 26.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.6 assists through 17 games this season. Over his last four outings, the eight-time All-Star has tallied 25 points or more.
An enticing matchup is on deck for Lillard against a Hawks team giving up the fifth-most DK fantasy points to opposing guards. Over his last ten games vs. Atlanta, the former Trail Blazer has produced 28.2 points and 6.7 rebounds on 48.2% shooting from the field. With the way the Bucks are rolling right now, any piece of this dynamic offense could deliver in your lineups.
2. Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons at BOS ($9,700)
It’s been a season of growth for Cade Cunningham. The guard has improved as both a scorer and a creator, posting 23.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.8 assists. With All-Star caliber numbers this year, the 23-year-old is truly living up to his reputation as a former number one overall pick. Most impressive has been the consistency; Detroit’s young star has scored 20 or more points in all but three of his 19 appearances so far.
However, Wednesday isn’t the easiest set up, even for a guard as talented as Cunningham. The defending champion Celtics possess one of the NBA’s stiffest defenses, giving up the sixth-fewest points in basketball (109.8 PPG). In addition, this game could be over by the fourth quarter, as Boston is favored by 13.5 points. Still, with such a gigantic workload and a high fantasy floor, Cade still needs to be placed inside the top two for tonight’s list.
3. Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks at MIL ($8,800)
We have yet to see Trae Young find his groove, but the point guard is still talented enough to produce some terrific stat lines. Despite shooting just 38.8% from the field, Atlanta’s star has averaged 20.9 points and a league-leading 12.2 assists. The former All-NBA selection has been especially good passing the ball lately, dishing out 13.8 dimes over his last five contests.
Despite their recent winning streak, the Bucks are still a flawed defensive unit. That’s especially true on the perimeter, where the team is allowing the seventh-most DK fantasy points to guards. Young has taken advantage of this matchup before, putting up 24.7 points and 8.9 assists through 14 career games vs. Milwaukee. In a game that could see plenty of points, expect the Hawks to let their best player take full control of the offense.
