Irving ($6,600) is coming off the best game of his career. The rookie rushed for 152 yards and touchdown on 25 carries this past Sunday vs. the Panthers, while also catching all three of his targets for 33 yards (30.5 FPTS). Irving has now scored at least 15 FPTS in six of his last seven games. Unfortunately, the breakout back is dealing with back and hip injuries that forced him to miss practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Raiders.
Irving has become the Buccaneers’ top back,d handling 56.4% of Tampa Bay’s running back carries over their last five games, and if Irving is out this Sunday, Rachaad White ($5,300) should operate as the Buccaneers’ main rusher and Tucker ($4,300) should also see work, as Tampa Bay’s coaching staff prefers to use a two-back system.
Tucker has been awesome as a rusher this season, averaging 6.3 YPC – which ranks second among all running backs that have logged at least 20 carries—and when White was inactive in Week 6 vs. the Saints, Tucker exploded for 37.1 FPTS.
The back rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and he caught all three of his targets for 56 yards and a touchdown. While Irving still led the Buccaneers’ backfield with 63.6% snap share, compared to a 37.6% rate for Tucker, the two backs split the groundwork evenly, with 14 carries apiece.
While we can’t expect another 37.1 FPTS performance, especially with a Raiders defense on the other side that is giving up the ninth-fewest yards per rush this season (4.3), Tucker should see ten-plus touches if Irving is out this Sunday. This makes him a viable punt play to consider at his $4,300 salary on DraftKings, and a player worth streaming in your season-long league if you need help at running back. Among all the running backs that have seen at least 20 touches this season, Tucker ranks second in FPTS per touch (1.53).
