Jimmy Butler was injured in Sunday’s 119-116 loss to the Raptors. He did not suit up for Miami’s back-to-back set in Boston on Monday and now he’s officially listed as questionable for Wednesday’s contest versus Los Angeles.
With Butler unavailable against the Celtics, the Heat turned to Jaime Jaquez Jr. to make his first start of the season. The sophomore responded with one of his better performances in 2024-25, registering 19 points and 10 rebounds in 36.4 minutes of action. Jaquez’s 24.9% usage rate also ranked third on the team behind only Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. For the season as a whole, Herro sees his usage rate jump from 26.7% to a Miami-high 29.6% when Butler is off the floor.
Butler is having a down start to the year by his own lofty standards. He’s averaging only 18.9 points per game and he’s logging just 31.9 minutes per contest — his lowest mark since all the way back in 2012-13.
