James Harden is putting on a show in his 16th season in the league. The former MVP has effortlessly slid back into a number one role on the Clippers following the departure of Paul George, and is now averaging a robust 22.3 PPG, 8.9 APG, and 7.2 RPG alongside 1.7 SPG and 0.7 BPG. It remains to be seen how his usage will shift once (if?) Kawhi Leonard returns to the mix. For now, Harden’s usage is at a healthy 30.3%, a figure he hasn’t reached since his 2019-2020 season.
The most intriguing aspect of Harden’s stats this season is his shooting. He’s shooting a poor 38.5% from the field and 34.6% from three. I’m not entirely surprised to see his efficiency declining a bit as the number one option; opposing defenses will place emphasis on stopping Harden by any means. It’s certainly a treat to see (almost) vintage Harden again this season.

Points 22.5 (Over -125 / Under -105): Harden’s scoring is somewhat understated this season. His efficiency is poor, but that implies that he could be averaging a higher PPG if his shooting were closer to his career average of 44%. I wouldn’t bet on that happening, but Harden’s 38.5% FG should slowly climb up a bit over the course of the season. This 22.5 mark is simply too low for a player of Harden’s form, who’s been averaging 34 PPG over his last three games and is now facing off against the 24th ranked defense in the league tonight.
PTS + REB + AST 38.5 (Over -120 / Under -110): Harden’s averaging exactly 38.4 PTS+REB+AST this season, a hair below his O/U line tonight for this category. This makes things a bit tricky to tackle. If you’re optimistic on Harden slicing up a bad team offensively either by scoring himself or finding his teammates, it feels reasonable to go over given how weak the Trail Blazers are. Robert Williams, one of Portland’s premier defensive players, will also be out tonight, stymieing the Blazers’ hopes of dissuading Harden from attacking the rim. Harden will probably have his way tonight against the Blazers.
