DraftKings Showdown Captain (CPT) Picks
Amon-Ra St. Brown ($15,300)
It’s been a bizarre season for Amon-Ra St. Brown. The fourth-year superstar is one of the premier wideouts in the league and the top target on an explosive offense. His production hasn’t reached the same heights as in recent years, which has made his fantasy output a bit more volatile.
St.Brown is on pace for 30 fewer catches and nearly 400 fewer yards from his breakout 2023 season. The Detroit aerial attack is nearly twice as efficient this year, but so is the rushing game. There are a lot of weapons to feed in this incredible unit, and St. Brown’s had to take a backseat at times to help get his teammates involved.
In the biggest spots, this team still runs through St. Brown. He’s dominant on the outside and always seems to come through in the clutch. The USC product had 18.6 fantasy points in the Week seven matchup and should continue to shine against the hated divisional rival.
Jordan Love ($14,100)
After some questionable play out of the gates, Jordan Love has settled down and is starting to find his stride. Love has already matched his interception total from his previous campaign but is beginning to prioritize taking care of the rock. He has thrown four touchdowns without committing any turnovers the last few weeks, stringing together impressive outings against viable competition.
The showing against Miami was particularly impressive, completing 75% of his passes for 274 yards and a pair of scores. Whether he’s finally fully healthy or regaining some confidence, Love looks much more decisive in the pocket. He has a cannon arm and still wants to launch the ball downfield to his playmakers, but mitigating risks will maximize possessions and increase scoring chances.
This Detroit defense is not the same force it was in September, and Love wants revenge for his stinker in the prior meeting.
Jahmyr Gibbs ($13,500)
The Sonic of the Lions backfield, Jahmyr Gibbs, is an explosive runner who is the perfect complement for this smashmouth organizational philosophy. He was a first-round pick in part due to his reliable hands. He acts as an extra receiver who is dangerous in space.
His work between the tackles has been more impressive, generating six yards a carry. Gibbs is uber elusive and tough to wrap up in a phone booth. His inconsistent touches can be frustrating, but he tends to see an uptick every other game. Last week, he only had 11, which means Gibbs should be more involved in this upcoming gamescript. In the weeks he’s more involved, he hovers around 18-24+ fantasy points, which is too enticing of a ceiling to ignore.
