The final month of 2024 has crept up on us all like the Rockets in the West. After a historic night in which the top two seeds in both conferences battled, things have shaken out in an odd way thus far in this 2024-25 NBA season. The Grizzlies have gotten healthy and predictably regained some form; they currently sit in the third seed in the West while the Warriors start to lose steam. The Cavaliers won a nail-biter against the Celtics and stay atop the East with the Celtics and Magic (wow!) trailing close behind.
But while some things this season are new, others are not. LaMelo Ball, unfortunately, suffered his annual injury, sidelining him for at least two weeks while the Hornets wait for his calf to heal. The Wizards went win-less in November, which marks just the 16th time an NBA team has done so. Nikola Jokic still looks like the best basketball player on Earth. We’re shooting the Three Lists of Threes today for your weekly dose of fantasy tips: Buy-lows, sell-highs, and streams.
Here are some streams we can consider.
Stream ’em
Vasilije Micic, PG, Charlotte Hornets
LaMelo Ball suffered a calf injury late in the game against Miami and will be reevaluated in two weeks’ time. Tre Mann is also to be reevaluated in two weeks, and has been out since November 23rd. The Hornets will need to figure out how to replace Ball’s offense. He currently leads the league in field goal attempts; both per-game and in total with 24.9 and 449, respectively. While second-year standout Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges can expect to see a lot of shots coming their way, it’ll be Vasilije Micic who will handle point guard duties on this team for the forseeable future.
Micic has received heavy minutes during his last two games in the wake of Ball’s absence and played well in both games, two losses to the Hawks and the Knicks. In these games he’s averaged 12 PPG,6.5 APG, and 5 RPG and a steal.
Guerschon Yabusele, PF, Philadelphia 76ers
It feels like I’m going to be talking about this guy a lot for some reason. Yabusele was featured last week but will be making another appearance in my lists. Joel Embiid is still battling a knee issue, making Yabusele worth a look. This time, he’s worth an even longer looks, since Andre Drummond went down against Detroit after playing just four minutes with a knee sprain with no return timetable. Welp, I guess it’s time to hit it again on Yabusele, who’s been unremarkable with heavy minutes but just good enough to hold onto as his team crumbles around him.
Robert Williams III, PF/C, Portland Trail Blazers
I’ve spoken before about Williams’ incredible per-minute impact, and he’s been featured on this list before, but he’s once again worth a look. Williams is currently out with a concussion but will return soon. Rookie big man Donovan Clingan is currently out due to an MCL sprain, opening up a big opportunity for Williams to stuff the stat sheet even in limited minutes. If only Deandre Ayton were still out as well. The last time Robert Williams averaged more than 25 minutes a game, which was only for one season, he came in 7th in DPOY voting and finished 16th in 9-cat leagues.
