While Bo Nix has justifiably been getting a lot of the attention for Denver’s recent success, let’s take a moment to appreciate Vele. The rookie wideout has emerged as the Broncos’ WR2 behind teammate Courtland Sutton, with Vele registering at least a 64% snap share in each of the past three weeks. It’s a span where Vele sits second on the team in targets (18), receptions (14), receiving yards (185) and PPR fantasy points (38.5). I think it’s safe to say that the former seventh-round pick has arrived.
However, the thing that makes Vele really intriguing on Monday night — at least in DFS — is his price tag. In Showdown, Vele is just $6,400 as a FLEX play, in comparison to the aforementioned Sutton, who is the slate’s most-expensive asset at $10,200. It’s well-earned, as Sutton has averaged 22.2 FPTS across the Broncos’ past five contests, but there’s no question that Vele represents a much cheaper stacking option with Nix if you’re looking to go with that type of build.
The matchup is pretty great, too. The Browns are surrendering 251.0 opponent passing yards per game since the beginning of Week 9, which is actually worse than you think when you examine the schedule they’ve played in that stretch of time. Heck, in Week 12 they managed to give up 270 passing yards to Russell Wilson, despite the fact that the game was being played in a blizzard. For the season as a whole, Cleveland is conceding the ninth-most FPTS per contest to opposing WRs. Expect both Vele and Sutton to have notable performances on MNF.
