DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward, and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.
For Tuesday’s Starting 5 slate, there are eight games.
None of the teams played on Monday. DET, IND, LAC, MIL, ORL and PHI play on Wednesday.
As for injuries, Jeremy Sochan, Bradley Beal, Reggie Jackson, Kyle Lowry and Caleb Martin are probable. Mark Williams, Dereck Lively II, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kevin Huerter, Scoot Henderson, Andrew Nembhard, Gradey Dick, Ty Jerome and Dean Wade are questionable. On DraftKings Sportsbook, there are two double-digit favorites: CLE -15.5 over WAS at home and OKC -14.5 over UTA at home. There is one game within 3 points: IND -2 over TOR on the road. There are three games with a total of at least 230: WAS/CLE (236), IND/TOR (237.5) and MEM/DAL (237). There are two games with a total below 220: PHI/CHA (210.5) and ORL/NYK (213). Point Guard
With price not an issue, we must all chant, HalleLuka! Luka Doncic garners a massive usage rate and is in play to triple-double on any given night. He missed some time and only played 28 and 30 minutes in his return, but he played 36 minutes on Sunday and finished with 72.25 FPTS. He’s back, baby!
Shooting Guard
With LaMelo Ball out due to injury, Brandon Miller has hucked up 25 and 30 shots! He’s even stuffed the stat sheet with defensive goodies, helping him put up 56 and 38 FPTS. Oh, did I forget to mention that he’s played 39, 37, 38, 38 and 43 minutes over the last five games? Playing time? Check. Usage and volume? Check and check.
Small Forward
Franz Wagner has truly leveled up with Paolo Banchero on the shelf. He’s finished with at least 40 FPTS in 11 of 13 games with six over 50 and a high of 71 FPTS. The usage rate is in the low-30% range and he’s literally been doing it all. The Knicks are 21st in defensive efficiency.
Power Forward
Giannis Antetokounmpo is the Godzilla of fantasy hoops, as he rumbles over and through the landscape to produce fantasy goodies. There is a red Q next to his name, but he’s officially designated as probable. Antetokounmpo has put up over 50 FPTS in all but four games this season with five over 70 and a high of 97.5 FPTS. Only Doncic and Wembanyama can match his ceiling.
Center
Speaking of Victor Wembanyama, his shooting efficiency can be an issue at times, especially since he shoots so many jumpers. That said, he literally does things that no one else can do, which surprises the opposition and allows him to rack up fantasy goodies. He started off the season slowly, but over the last eight games, Wembanyama has put up over 50 FPTS in all but one with a high of 80.5 FPTS.
