Happy Holidays! We’ve reached Christmas week, so I hope you’re all on the nice list this year! There are at least two sneaker drops to keep your eyes on this holiday week.
The Kids of Immigrants take on the Nike Air Max SNDR drops on December 27 for $190. Nike notes that “this custom edition swaps the signature reflective side panels for gradient ripstop nylon and a suede toe cap with cut-out window details. Its midsole arch has a speckled finish and a grid-like plastic cage wraps the upper, creating a layered look full of depth and complexity” and “custom branding throughout the upper and translucent outsole solidifies the partnership.” These have been a highly anticipated release and offer a fresh take on the 1990s trainer.
The other big drop is the Bodega x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 20 Friends and Family also on December 27 for a retail price of $180. This is a limited alternate colorway to the Bodega take on the GEL-KAYANO 20 which dropped in September, dubbed the “Small Wins Add Up.” Of the release, Bodega says “When we released the Bodega x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 20 in September, the team was fascinated by the idea of compound interest. Not like they teach in Finance 301, but the kind set to the soundtrack of day-to-day living. If life is a marathon and not a sprint, it’s important to recognize that it’s those small wins that are going to add up to something great.” Coming with a bag of Vietnamese coffee from from Nguyen Coffee Supply and a custom Stanley camp mug, this is probably not a colorway for everyone, but I happen to think it’s a great way to end another year in sneakers.
