Even in his 16th season, Matthew Stafford is still finding ways to be a high-end signal caller. His stats don’t jump off the page, but he’s spent the majority of the season working behind a makeshift offensive line and without his top two pass catchers. He managed to keep the squad afloat, masterfully making plays with his arm to stay competitive.
With the blockers up front getting healthy and both elite receivers back in the fold, Stafford’s ceiling is much more attainable. In the last two weeks, the veteran quarterback has tossed six touchdowns and amassed 538 through the air. The aggressiveness switch has flipped on, as it’s clear Stafford wants to spread the ball out to the perimeter and push the rock vertically.
Stafford gets a date with a New Orleans defense that has shown some glimmers of competence but is 16th in EPA per play. LA is playing to keep pace in the NFC postseason race and needs a massive showing from its franchise pillar. Stafford has hit this line in four of the last five weeks. The passing game should continue to catch fire, and the 36-year-old will be a prime beneficiary.
