Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA Starting 5 DFS Plays for December 2

Published:

By: Stan Son

DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward, and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.

For Monday’s Starting 5 slate, there are four games.

BOS, BKN, LAL, MIA and NOP are playing the second leg of a back-to-back. None of the teams play on Tuesday.

As for injuries, Bogdan Bogdanovic is probable. Coby White is questionable. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, ATL is -6 at home over NOP with the total at 230. BOS is -7.5 at home over MIA with the total at 225. MIN is -4.5 at home over LAL with the total at 225.5. CHI is -5 at home over BKN with the total at 235. Log into DK Sportsbook for the updates.

Point Guard

Dennis Schroder sees a 5% usage rate bump to 29% with Cam Thomas off the court this season. Thomas is out due to injury and the matchup against the Chicago Bulls is a pristine one for fantasy, as they play at the second-fastest pace while being 28th in defensive efficiency.

Shooting Guard

Anthony Edwards put up only 34.5 FPTS in his last game, but that was against the Los Angeles Clippers, a team that is sixth in defensive efficiency. Now Edwards gets to face the Los Angeles Lakers, a team that is 24th in defensive efficiency. The Lakers are sixth in offensive efficiency, so Edwards will likely have to do his thing to keep up. Prior to the Clippers game, Edwards went for over 40 FPTS in seven straight with three over 50 FPTS.

Small Forward

It’s always tough clicking on Jimmy Butler because sometimes he defers to his teammates and isn’t aggressive. That said, when he’s locked in and engaged, he can put up 50 FPTS, something he’s done three times this season. A matchup with the defending champion Boston Celtics should get his juices flowing.

Power Forward

Jayson Tatum is the alpha for the Celtics and has gone for over 40 FPTS in all but one game this season. The usage rate is 31.6% and there’s a chance Jaylen Brown is out for this one due to an illness. In 261 minutes this season with Brown off the court, Tatum has seen a 5 percent usage rate bump to 36%.

Center

Nikola Vucevic has been on fire this season, especially from downtown, converting 43% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He’s gone for over 40 FPTS in each of the last five games with a high of 56.75 FPTS. This game has the highest total on the slate at 234 and, even if Vuc cools off from deep, he still has the game in the paint and could feast on a Nets team devoid of heft at the position.
