Guard
Stud
Dennis Schroder, Brooklyn Nets at Chicago Bulls ($7,100) – Cam Thomas was garnering a 31.2% usage rate on the season, but he’s out due to injury. In 237 minutes this season, Schroder has seen a 5.19% usage rate bump to 29.49% with Thomas off the court. On Sunday, Schroder “only” put up 34.5 FPTS on 20 points, seven assists, a block and a steal, but that was against the Orlando Magic, a team that is 18th in pace and third in defensive efficiency. Monday’s matchup is against the Chicago Bulls, a team playing at the second-fastest pace and is 28th in defensive efficiency. Schroder has six games over 40 FPTS, with three of those over 50. Another 50 burger could be on the menu again.
Other Options – Anthony Edwards ($9,300), Trae Young ($8,800), CJ McCollum ($7,400), Josh Giddey ($6,300)
Value
Keon Johnson, Brooklyn Nets at Chicago Bulls ($3,500) – Due to all the injuries for Brooklyn, Johnson has elevated up the totem pole, playing 32, 28, 20 and 30 minutes over the last four games. In the last two contests, he’s put up 24.5 and 29 FPTS. He should play a ton of minutes again and huck up shots. At this price, the risk/reward seems pretty favorable.
Other Options – Payton Pritchard ($5,500), Ayo Dosunmu ($5,300), Jrue Holiday ($5,000), Dalton Knecht ($5,000), Nickeil Alexander-Walker ($4,000)
Forward
Stud
Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat ($10,300) – Tatum is garnering a 31.5% usage rate on the season and is averaging a robust 28.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 46% from the field, 37% from downtown and 79% from the line. He’s scored at least 40 FPTS in all but one contest this season with six over 60. Tatum is the Steady Eddy for fantasy hoops.
Other Options – Jalen Johnson ($8,200), Jimmy Butler ($7,600), Cameron Johnson ($6,600), Trey Murphy III ($6,200)
Value
Dalton Knecht, Los Angeles Lakers at Minnesota Timberwolves ($5,000) – In 12 games off the bench, Knecht is averaging 7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.4 minutes per game. In seven games as a starter, Knecht is averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He’s started the last two games and put up 35 FPTS in each. Knecht is shooting 43% from downtown and his ability to stretch the field is too valuable right now.
Other Options – Rui Hachimura ($4,800), Nickeil Alexander-Walker ($4,000), Talen Horton-Tucker ($3,200)
Center
Stud
Nikola Vucevic, Chicago Bulls vs. Brooklyn Nets ($8,400) – When Anthony Davis is on the slate, it’s usually an auto-click on his name, but he has a matchup against Rudy Gobert and the Timberwolves while Vuc has been en fuego lately and faces a Nets team that is light in the rear at the center position. Vucevic is shooting a career-high 46% from downtown. While he’s had two seasons shooting at least 40% from beyond the arc, he converted 29% and 34% the prior two seasons. He’s going to regress at some point, but it doesn’t all have to happen in one game. Even if he’s cold in this one, this game has the highest total on the slate and Vuc can still do damage in the paint, and the Nets are thin and light at the position. Vuc has gone for at least 40 FPTS in five straight with a high of 56.75.
Other Options – Anthony Davis ($10,800)
Value
Yves Missi, New Orleans Pelicans at Atlanta Hawks ($5,100) – The Pelicans were impressed with Missi in the offseason, due to his athleticism and ability to soak in information and work. He was in the rotation from the get-go, playing around 20 minutes a contest. Over the last three games, Missi has played 31, 28 and 31 minutes, and he’s delivered with 44, 23.75 and 41.75 FPTS. Atlanta plays at the third-fastest pace, so there should be plenty of chances for fantasy goodies.
Other Options – Clint Capela ($5,400), Onyeka Okongwu ($4,800)
