The Charlotte Hornets’ star point guard LaMelo Ball was injured late in the fourth quarter of a November 27 loss to the Miami Heat. As of November 30, Ball is expected to miss time due to a calf injury.
Per the team, Ball was diagnosed with a left calf strain and is expected to miss at least two weeks with the ailment. He will then be re-evaluated to determine a return to play.
The injury places a damper on a career-best season for the 23-year-old star. Ball is averaging 31.1 points per game along with 5.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists.
The 6-13 Hornets will be particularly shorthanded while Ball is out. Fellow point guard Tre Mann, also enjoying a career-best season in a revitalized role, is expected to miss two weeks due to a back injury.
