SG/SF Dalton Knecht ($4,800)
Dalton Knecht is going to be a unanimous All-Value first-team selection until his assigned salary sees an uptick. The 23-year-old inexplicably slipping in June’s NBA Draft put a massive chip on his shoulder, and he’s come out of the gates launching. A walking bucket, Knecht is a dynamite scorer who can catch fire in the blink of an eye.
Most rookies tend to be overly conservative, especially on a solid team, but LA desperately needs Knecht to be a consistent threat. JJ Redick has emphasized that his group needs to take more threes to compete, and the University of Tennessee product is money from behind the arc. He’s a scorching 44% from distance and can find his shot off the dribble or peeling off a screen.
The more LA struggles, the more expanded the role Knecht will earn. He’s already ascended to the fourth scoring option and should consistently play over 30 minutes a night. Knecht gets a date with a Utah bunch that allows the third most fantasy points to opposing wings. The first-year sniper will feast and try to top 30 fantasy points for the third consecutive outing.
PG Spencer Dinwiddie ($4,400)
The Spencer Dinwiddie reunion in Dallas has somehow been prosperous for both sides. The combo guard has bounced around, failing to find a permanent home after a five-year stint early in his career in Brooklyn. He’s a decent passer but is undersized for his position and on the floor to be a spark plug. His inefficiency from the field and struggles on defense have limited his playing time, but he’s starting to put the ball in the basket.
Dinwiddie has made 14 of his last 22 shots and has been lighting it up from deep. It’s a small sample, but he has ample confidence and is unafraid to get his shot up. He has to face a frisky Portland squad, but they don’t have enough on-ball perimeter defenders to throw at Dallas’ guards. In DFS, half the battle is finding trends, and backing the Dinwiddie surge should pay dividends.
