Cavaliers -6 (-108)
The Cavaliers (17-2) head into Friday’s matchup against the Hawks (8-11) with momentum after a solid start to the season. Cleveland has been dominant at home, boasting a 10-1 record and leading the Eastern Conference. The Cavs have had a solid defense and have been efficient on offense, led by Donovan Mitchell, averaging 24.7 points per game. In their last game, they lost a rare home game to the Hawks (135-124). With the Hawks winning their previous two road games, this game should feature a motivated Cavs team looking for revenge and extending their strong record.
Atlanta is coming off an impressive road win over the Cavaliers, where they rallied from a 19-point deficit. Despite the team’s ups and downs this season, they have managed to stay competitive while being led by Trae Young, averaging 21.8 points and 12.5 assists. However, with Cleveland’s defense and home-court advantage, the Cavs are well-positioned to bounce-back in this rematch to cover the -6 spread.
Magic -7.5 (-115)
The Magic (13-7) have had a solid start to the season despite the absence of Paolo Banchero for most of the year. They have won 10 of their last 11 games, including an impressive 133-119 victory over the Bulls. Jalen Suggs scored a season-high 31 points in the win, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 24, helping Orlando out-shoot the Bulls from long range (38.5%).
The Nets (9-10), currently facing many injuries, will be without Cam Thomas for a few weeks due to a strained hamstring and Nic Claxton due to a back injury. Tyrese Martin, who scored a career-high 30 points against the Suns, will need to step up again, but the absence of key players makes it hard to see Brooklyn covering the +7.5 spread in this one.
Lakers +3 (-112)
The Lakers (11-7) seek to extend their road trip with a strong performance against the Thunder (14-4). The Lakers recently ended a three-game losing streak with a win over the Spurs, and they’re looking to build on momentum on the road, led by Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Davis is coming off a 19-point, 14-rebound game, and James continues to impress at age 39, averaging 22.9 points, 9.3 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The Thunder, on the other hand, have been outstanding on the road, winning their last three games, including a victory over the Warriors. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains tough for any team to handle. Oklahoma City plays tough defense, and there’s a lot of talent overall. However, with the Lakers’ star power and the Thunder coming off a grueling road trip, the Lakers have a good chance to cover the +3 spread.
Timberwolves -6 (-110)
The Timberwolves (8-10) have struggled of late, losing four consecutive games, including a tough 115-104 defeat to the Kings. Star player Anthony Edwards has called out his team for their lack of communication and intensity. Edwards leads the team with 28 points per game, but the Timberwolves will need consistency to get back on track.
The Clippers (12-8), coming off a dominant win over the Wizards, have won six of their last seven games. James Harden has played a crucial role in the team’s recent success. Harden scored a season-high 43 points in the win and could be pivotal in a matchup against a team struggling to find its identity. With Edwards’ message being loudly sent, could Minnesota use this as motivation for a bounce-back game? If so, the Timberwolves appear to be a solid pick to cover the -6 spread.
Domantas Sabonis Over 40.5 PTS + REB + AST (-110)
Domantas Sabonis has put up big numbers for the Kings, averaging 26.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.7 assists in his last three games. Sabonis should have plenty of chances to impose his will against a weakened opponent in the Trail Blazers (7-12), who will be playing without Donovan Clingan. Given his recent production, Sabonis is in a great position to hit over 40.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists.
