Lamar Jackson is having another MVP season in Baltimore. He is currently 2nd in the MVP odds at DraftKings Sportsbook, behind only Josh Allen. This is a massive game against another MVP candidate, Saquon Barkley. The Ravens are one of the best teams in the NFL, but any time they seem to really be ramping up their powers, they go ahead and lose a game that they shouldn’t. That most recent loss came two weeks ago against the Steelers, but then the Ravens bounced back with a win over the Chargers. Jackson was highly efficient against a good Chargers defense and threw for two touchdowns while rushing for another.
The Eagles’ defense is another tough matchup for Jackson and the Ravens. The Eagles have the third-best rush defense in the league, measured by defensive EPA/rush. That could force the Ravens to come with a more pass-heavy approach than they normally do. That being said, even against an elite run defense, the threat of Derrick Henry forces opposing defenses to load up the box to prepare for the bruising rushing attack. That should help Jackson attack the Eagles’ young corners and try to move the ball through the air.
My favorite prop bet for this game is for Lamar Jackson to throw for over 1.5 passing touchdowns. These are two of the top three run defenses in the NFL, so both teams could be more pass-heavy, increasing the amount of possessions and explosive plays in the game. The Ravens are the best passing offense in the league by EPA/dropback and they should be able to exploit the Eagles’ young corners in a way that other teams have not. Jackson has had two or more passing touchdowns in five of his past six games. He should be able to keep that trend going against the Eagles on Sunday.
