Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the past two weeks. He missed the Eagles’ Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams but appears to be in better shape to suit up this week.
After practice on Friday, Smith said, “It’s really not my decision. I still don’t know right now.”
Smith is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Smith has missed two games this season, but when he has been on the field, he has found success. Smith is WR37 in PPR fantasy football leagues. He has five weeks with at least 15 FPTS. In nine games this year, Smith has caught 41 passes for 516 yards and four touchdowns. Before this season, Smith only missed one game in his NFL career.
If Smith cannot play for the second straight week, another big-time performance for A.J. Brown should be in store. Like Smith, Brown has missed some time this season but has been an integral part of the Eagles’ success when he has been healthy.
Brown totaled 22 points last week against the Rams. He caught six balls for 109 yards and a touchdown. That was Brown’s fifth game with 15 or more points this season. It was also his third 20-point game this year. After not consistently receiving many targets, that has changed in the last three weeks. Brown was targeted at least seven times during that period.
Last week, Brown finished as WR6, but that likely will change this week. The Eagles are facing the Ravens, who have allowed the most passing yards in the NFL this season. The Ravens have also allowed the most DKFTS (516.2) to opposing WRs. The Eagles have shown their offense runs through their elite rushing attack led by Saquon Barkley. However, Brown will always be heavily involved in their game plan, especially if Smith cannot play this Sunday.
