Thanksgiving is here, which means good food, seeing the family, and…lackluster football? A date between the 2-9 Giants and the 4-7 Cowboys isn’t the most appealing, with Dallas favored by 3.5 points and the over/under set at 37.5 points.
Despite the uninspiring matchup, there’s plenty of value on the board for savvy bettors. Here are three player props worth making before these two historic rivals kick off on Thursday afternoon.
Rico Dowdle over 67.5 rush yards (-115)
It’s no secret that teams have run all over the Giants. Due to a shaky defense and an offense incapable of holding the ball, New York has given up the third-most rush yards in football (148.0 YPG). Considering Big Blue is playing their third quarterback in the past two weeks, it’s difficult to imagine the team won’t find itself trailing in this one as well.
That’s where Rico Dowdle steps in. The recently-anointed starting running back has had a solid season, gaining 672 yards from scrimmage through ten games. While the fourth-year pro only produced 46 rush yards last time these two played, he was still stuck in a split backfield with veteran Ezekiel Elliot. Over the past four weeks, Dowdle has averaged 60.5 rush yards per game. Against such weak opposition, he’s well-positioned for a big performance.
Wan’Dale Robinson over 4.5 receptions (+105)
Drew Lock isn’t a savior at quarterback, but he should be a more capable starting option than Tommy DeVito (and maybe even Daniel Jones). That’s not saying much, but the veteran has shown an ability to move the ball throughout his five-year NFL career. That’s good news for an underrated group of Giants wideouts, including Wan’Dale Robinson.
The former second-round pick has had a bit of a breakout in 2024, snagging a career-high 61 catches to go with 441 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While he’s not much of a yards after the catch threat, Robinson’s skill as a pass-catcher should be on full display in this one. The former Kentucky Wildcat has cleared this number in 81.8% of his appearances this season, including last week with DeVito behind center. In a game that should demand plenty of passes from New York, expect Lock to keep his talented slot receiver fed on Thanksgiving.
Luke Schoonmaker over 29.5 receiving yards (-110)
Jake Ferguson is out due to a concussion, which should open up plenty of targets for some of the ‘other’ Cowboys. That includes backup tight end Luke Schoonmaker, who has been playing well lately. Since Week 11, the second-year man from Michigan has tallied 111 receiving yards and a touchdown on nine catches, filling in as a valuable safety blanket for quarterback Cooper Rush.
The Giants have been one of the league’s better defenses against tight ends, but this is still a group giving up the eleventh-most yards per pass attempt (7.0 YPA). Dallas has thrown the ball more than any other team this year (40.3 attempts), so there should be plenty of volume even with CeeDee Lamb commanding double-digit targets. When these teams played each other in Week 4, Ferguson hauled in seven catches for 49 yards. A little more than half of that workload will set Schoonmaker up to smash this line.
