De’Von Achane is having an up-and-down season for Miami. He is almost alternating between having really productive games and pretty quiet games. However, one thing he has done well in recent weeks is finding the end zone. Achane had two receiving touchdowns last week despite only having 56 total yards. Overall, Achane has six total touchdowns in his past five games, with four of those coming through the air.
Achane has four receiving touchdowns in five games, but none of those have been over 20-yard catches. Mike McDaniel is doing a great job of calling unique plays to get the ball in Achane’s hands close to the end zone while opposing defenses are focused on Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, allowing Achane to shake free and score touchdowns. Achane also has the ability to just take a handoff inside the five-yard line and pound it in the end zone like he did against Las Vegas two weeks ago.
Green Bay has been vulnerable to running backs that are also receiving threats. It has given up 417 receiving yards to running backs this season, the seventh-most in the NFL. Green Bay’s defense has also struggled in the red zone, ranking 20th in opponent red-zone touchdown percentage. Meanwhile, Miami’s offense ranks 11th in red-zone touchdown percentage, and that includes the games played without Tua Tagovailoa where the offense was not the same. Achane should continue to get creative looks in the red zone and score against the Packers.
