Amon-Ra St. Brown is having another big season for the Lions, who have the highest-scoring offense in the NFL through 12 weeks. St. Brown ranks 4th in the league in receptions, 8th in receiving yards, and 2nd in receiving touchdowns. That being said, it has been a boom-or-bust season for St. Brown. He has had monster performances like the 11 catches, 161 yards, and two touchdowns performance against the Jaguars two weeks ago. However, that is the only game where he has eclipsed 65 receiving yards in his past five games.
The Bears could be a tough defensive matchup for the Lions. While they continue to lose games, the Bears aren’t playing badly in most of their losses, especially on defense. The Chicago defense ranks 9th in EPA/play and 7th in EPA/dropback. Granted, it was on the road in bad weather and not inside the friendly confines of Ford Field, but the last time these teams met in 2023, Chicago shut down the Lions’ offense. They were held to just 13 points and Amon-Ra St. Brown had just three catches for 21 yards in that game. Even when they played in Detroit last season, Jared Goff threw three interceptions and the Lions required a 4th quarter comeback to defeat the Bears.
St. Brown has been reliable finding the end zone with nine touchdowns in his past nine games. However, his yardage production has not been very reliable. Jameson Williams has been the explosive play threat this season, averaging twice as many yards per catch as St. Brown. Then the running backs and Sam LaPorta are also incredibly reliable targets underneath. That limits the number of targets to go around for St. Brown. He has three games this season with over 100 receiving yards and one with 75 receiving yards, however, in the other seven games he has had 62 yards or fewer. The Bears’ defense is a tough matchup and with the inconsistent yardage production, I am betting Amon-Ra St. Brown to go under 69.5 receiving yards.
