Turkey Day has arrived. We have a three-game slate on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thanksgiving, and that means we get three cracks at the first touchdown scorer for each game. Below is my favorite pick for each game.
David Montgomery (+390) Bears at Lions
Montgomery is the clear choice here, and it’s no surprise that he’s listed as the favorite. The Lions have scored the first touchdown in eight of their 11 games so far this season, so a Lions player scoring first seems like the logical choice. Montgomery has scored the first touchdown for Detroit in six of their 11 games, so if the Lions do score first, don’t be surprised when you see Monty celebrating in the endzone.
CeeDee Lamb (+750) Giants at Cowboys
This choice was not as easy to make, so I went with the best player on the team which should be slightly better. I give the Cowboys the edge in this one, and that means I think they will likely score first. Dallas certainly doesn’t have a bell cow running back to target in this spot, so I will go with their star receiver. Lamb only has four touchdown grabs this year and is definitely due for another endzone celebration. He leads all Cowboys in red zone targets this season with 13. At this price, it’s hard to pass up one of the best receivers in the game.
De’Von Achane (+650) Dolphins at Packers
The Dolphins have scored the first touchdown in six of their 11 games so far this season, and Achane has accounted for the team’s first touchdown three times. He is a threat to score either through the air or on the ground and has been finding the endzone at will recently. Since the return of Tua Tagovailoa under center, Achane has combined for six touchdowns in five games. He has taken complete control of that Dolphins backfield and I think he’s a great bet at this price.
