Rockets -5
The Rockets are surging, having won eight of their last 10 games, and will look to continue their strong form as they visit the 76ers. Houston (13-6) most recently secured a 117-111 overtime win against the Timberwolves, with Fred VanVleet posting 27 points and 11 assists. Alperen Sengun contributed a triple-double in the win, and the Rockets are playing with unselfish ball movement, averaging 31 assists per game in their last contest.
Philadelphia (3-13) snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over the Nets, but quickly fell back into struggles, most recently losing 125-99 to the Clippers. Without Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Kyle Lowry, the 76ers’ defense has been porous, and their offense has been inconsistent. Houston is well-positioned to cover the -5 spread.
Mavericks +4
Despite missing Luka Doncic (wrist), the Mavericks have continued to impress, winning five of their last six games. Dallas (10-8) has managed well without their star player, with Kyrie Irving stepping up, including a 32-point performance against Atlanta to achieve a rallying effort. The Mavericks have been aided by a well-rounded attack with many double-figure scorers lately. The team even had four 20-point scorers against the Hawks.
The Knicks (10-7) are coming off a season-high 145-point performance in a victory over the Nuggets, with Karl-Anthony Towns leading the team in scoring at 26.3 points per game. Jalen Brunson has also been a standout, contributing 24.9 points per game. However, New York is still without contributors like Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring). With Irving leading the charge, the Mavericks seem poised to cover the +4 spread.
Pistons +8
After last season’s struggles, the Pistons have shown a significant improvement and seek to build on their momentum against the Grizzlies. Detroit (8-11) is coming off a thrilling 102-100 win over the Raptors, with Jaden Ivey hitting a buzzer-beater to seal the victory. Ivey leads the Pistons with 18.4 points per game, and Detroit has been playing much better basketball than last year.
The Grizzlies (11-7) are winners of three straight and have welcomed back Ja Morant, who made an immediate impact with 22 points and 11 assists in his return against Portland. However, Morant is set to miss this game due to a knee contusion. Additionally, Memphis is still working through defensive issues, and Detroit’s improved play should help them cover the +8 spread.
Kings +3.5
The Timberwolves and Kings are motivated to break losing streaks entering this matchup. Sacramento has dropped four in a row, but De’Aaron Fox has been outstanding, averaging 28.1 points per game. Sacramento (8-10) will need more from their offense after a disappointing 130-109 loss to Oklahoma City.
Minnesota (8-9) is on a three-game losing streak, and Anthony Edwards continues to lead them with 28 points per game. Despite his production, the Timberwolves have struggled with consistency. Sacramento’s offense, led by Fox and Domantas Sabonis, should help them cover the +3.5 spread.
Anthony Edwards Over 26.5 Points (-110)
Edwards has been dominant this season, averaging 28 points per game and leading the Timberwolves. He’s already put up big numbers against the Kings, averaging 34 points per game in their two meetings this season. With Sacramento’s defense struggling, Edwards is primed to hit the Over on 26.5 points again.
