NFL Pick ‘Em Pools
These pools are easy to use and allow you to have action for the entire NFL season with just one entry fee. For season-long pools, you will go back to the pool every week and pick five games against the spread. Each correct selection is worth one point and each incorrect selection is worth zero points. For single-week pools, the same rules apply.
I will be giving out my five favorite selections and my leans for every other game on the slate every week of the regular season.
Week 13 Picks
Picks Record: 34-26 (56.7%)
Seahawks -2.5 at Jets- The Jets are a complete disaster. They have now had their Head Coach and General Manager fired this season and Aaron Rodgers is openly speculating on his future with the team and in the NFL. The way to attack the Seahawks’ defense is through the air, and the Jets rank 19th in EPA/dropback with Aaron Rodgers very reluctant to push the ball down the field. Seattle should be able to limit explosive plays, which have troubled them this season, and restrict the Jets’ offense.
The Jets’ defense, which was arguably the best in the league last season, is now 18th in EPA/play. The Seahawks should be able to move the ball against the Jets who have had major tackling issues this season. The Seattle weapons, especially DK Metcalf, are not who you want to face when you have tackling issues. The Jets are also dealing with injury issues to LT Tyron Smith and Breece Hall, which would hurt their offense even more.
Dolphins +3.5 at Packers- The Packers have struggled on short weeks with Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love. LaFleur is 2-6 ATS as a favorite on a short week and 1-6 ATS at home on a short week. Jordan Love is 0-2 SU and ATS on a short week in his career. The Dolphins are starting to play really well over the past several weeks. The return of Tua Tagovailoa has really bolstered this offense. Tagovailoa now ranks 1st in success rate among all quarterbacks.
The Packers have been winning games but apart from the domination of the Purdy-less 49ers, they have been cutting it really close. Their last three wins prior to last week came by one point against Chicago, three points against Jacksonville and two points against Houston. The Packers might win this game, but they have had issues trying to cover by a significant margin, so the Dolphins should be able to keep it inside this number.
Titans +5.5 at Commanders- The Titans are starting to play pretty solid football. The Tennessee defense has been one of the most underrated units in the league this season, but the team has been plagued by terrible offense. Will Levis still threw a pick-six last week against Houston, but the Titans overcame it and found a way to win. One thing you can’t dispute about Will Levis is his willingness to push the ball down the field. Levis ranks 8th in the NFL in air yards per pass, leading to turnover issues but also deep shot touchdowns like he had last week against Houston.
The Commanders’ defense is susceptible to giving up those big plays. They rank 22nd in the NFL in defensive EPA/dropback and 24th in defensive dropback success rate. The Commanders’ offense has also not been the same the past few weeks. Jayden Daniels has been struggling since picking up a rib injury a few weeks ago and is presumed to not be fully healthy. The Titans’ defense ranks 12th in defensive EPA/play and 4th in defensive success rate, and they should be able to limit the Commanders, especially with both of their running backs banged up.
Ravens -2.5 vs. Eagles- The Ravens bounced back with an awesome win over the Chargers last week. These are two of the best teams in the NFL with the two best running backs in the NFL, making run defense essential to success in this game. The Ravens rank 2nd in defensive EPA/rush, with the Eagles ranking 3rd. The Ravens rank 2nd in defensive rushing success rate, with the Eagles ranking 10th. So while both units are elite, Baltimore has been better at stopping the run.
There is a chance these two elite run offenses and elite run defenses largely cancel each other out. That would make it a passing game between these two offenses. If it comes to that, Lamar Jackson is the much better passer this season. The Ravens rank 1st in EPA/dropback, while the Eagles rank 11th. Lamar Jackson ranks 1st in adjusted EPA/play among all quarterbacks, while Jalen Hurts ranks 13th. Devonta Smith also missed last week with an injury and if he misses this game, the Eagles get very thin at wide receiver after A.J. Brown. At home, when they just need to win the game, give me Lamar Jackson and John Harbaugh over Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni.
Jaguars +4.5 vs. Texans- Before getting annihilated by the Lions, the Jaguars had actually been playing really tight games against good teams. They lost by five points to Minnesota, by five points to Philadelphia, by three points to Green Bay, and beat New England in the four games prior to that defeat to Detroit. The Jaguars have had a bye week to recover from that poor showing and the good news for Jacksonville is that Trevor Lawrence is hopefully going to return at quarterback for this game.
There is something wrong with C.J. Stroud and the Texans. Stroud ranks 29th among qualified quarterbacks in EPA+CPOE composite, worse than the likes of Daniel Jones, Aaron Rodgers, Drake Maye, and Jacksonville’s own Trevor Lawrence. The Texans’ defense was also inexplicably shredded by Will Levis last week. The Texans could be in a bad mental space heading into this game, while the Jaguars are fresh off of a bye week. The Jaguars should be able to keep it close in this divisional matchup.
