Fresh off a disappointing loss last night to the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to rebound tonight as they travel to San Antonio for a date with the Spurs. The teams are separated by just half a game but four spots in the crowded Western Conference standings, with Los Angeles at 10-7 and San Antonio at 10-8.
The Lakers will be led once again on Wednesday night by their talisman, LeBron James. The four-time Most Valuable Player has not missed a beat in his 22nd season, averaging 23.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.2 assists.

In the second year of Victor Wembanyama’s career, the Spurs have been more or less average in all facets of the game, which can only be considered a positive development for San Antonio fans after the team’s disappointing record in 2023-24. However, with a switching-heavy defensive scheme anchored by Wembanyama and his eight-foot wingspan, the Spurs have allowed opponents to record the third-fewest assists per game.
James, one of the greatest passers in NBA history, was immune to San Antonio’s pressure in the teams’ first matchup this season, a 120-115 Lakers win on November 15. But that game was the finale in one of the greatest stretches of James’ illustrious career, when he recorded a triple-double in four consecutive contests. He has since cooled down slightly, notching double-digit assists in only two of his five matchups since then.
Los Angeles is reeling, having lost three games in a row, so JJ Redick and LeBron will certainly come out motivated on Wednesday night. It may be enough for a win, but with the Spurs’ hot defensive form, it won’t be a vintage performance for The King.
