It has not been the rookie season Caleb Williams hoped for. The Bears have dropped to 4-7 and lost five consecutive games entering this week.
The NFL waits for no one, and Williams and the team will attempt to figure things out in a Thanksgiving matchup with the 10-1 Detroit Lions. Detroit has been clicking on all cylinders and this will be a tough task for Williams and the struggling Bears.
The Lions enter this game as 9.5-point favorites and -440 on the moneyline. The Bears are considered +340 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the game total set at 47.5 points.
Caleb Williams Prop Bets
DraftKings Sportsbook has Caleb Williams’ props set at o/u 228.5 passing yards, 1.5 passing touchdowns, 30.5 rushing yards. He holds +400 odds for an anytime touchdown.
There were high expectations for Caleb Williams after he was selected with the first overall pick. Chicago made its best effort to provide Williams with impressive skill position players in the hopes of jumping immediately into contention. Unfortunately, offensive line, coaching and defensive issues have proven too much to overcome thus far.
On the season overall, Williams has thrown for 2,356 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. He is averaging 214.2 passing yards per game as well as 30.8 rushing yards per game. He has also been sacked 44 times, which is the most of any player in the NFL.
While the Lions’ offense steals the spotlight, their defense has also been impressive this season. Detroit ranks second in the NFL in points allowed and 12th in yards given up. It has given up the fewest passing touchdowns across the NFL, although ranks 25th in passing yards allowed.
As is always the case when playing the Lions, this game has a chance to get out of hand if Chicago cannot match their offensive output. Detroit’s offense has been incredibly dynamic this year, and the Bears will struggle to contain the Lions. Williams will either need to lead the offense to an impressive scoring output or be playing from behind. In either case, expect an uptick in offensive opportunity for the rookie.
Williams is coming off a 340-yard performance last week in which he added two passing touchdowns. I like this trend to continue and for Williams to reach his passing prop again this week. It may not be the cleanest route to reach this, but whether it is when the game is already out of reach or going toe-to-toe with the NFL’s best offense, expect Williams to be utilized heavily. He has thrown for over 228.5 passing yards in four games already this season and has not played his best football yet. Look for Williams to make the most of the Thanksgiving spotlight and have success against the part of the Lions’ defense that struggles the most. For the sake of the article, we will stick with the traditional line for the over/under, but I also like the value of 250+ yards at +145 odds or 275+ yards at +275 odds.
The Pick: Over 228.5 Passing Yards
