Spurs -2.5

The Spurs are on a roll, aiming for their fourth straight win as they face the Jazz in a West Group B NBA Cup matchup. The Spurs (1-1) are coming off a 104-94 victory over Golden State, where they erased a 17-point deficit and outscored the Warriors by 20 in the fourth quarter. Victor Wembanyama returned after a three-game absence, recording 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Stephon Castle added 19 points while reigning West Player of the Week Harrison Barnes contributed 22.

The Jazz (0-2) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 121-106 win over the Knicks, led by 34 points from Lauri Markkanen and strong performances from Collin Sexton (25 points) and John Collins (20 points, 13 rebounds). Despite Utah’s improved performance, San Antonio has dominated recent meetings, taking two of three this season. With the Spurs playing solid basketball and the Jazz struggling defensively, San Antonio is well-positioned to cover the -2.5 spread.

Lakers +2.5

The Los Angeles Lakers look to bounce back from a tough loss as they visit the Phoenix Suns for an NBA Cup East Group B showdown on Tuesday. The Lakers (2-0 in NBA Cup play) are coming off a 127-102 loss to the Denver Nuggets, where Anthony Davis was held to just 14 points in a season-low performance. LeBron James added 18 points, but the Lakers’ second-half collapse against Denver raised concerns.

Phoenix (1-1) is getting back key players with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal returning from calf injuries. Durant, who was averaging 27.6 points per game before his injury, and Beal (17.8 points per game) could provide the spark the Suns need after a five-game losing streak. The Lakers and Suns have split their two meetings this season, with both teams relying on their stars for success. With Phoenix still working to find consistency and the Lakers eager to bounce back, Los Angeles has a strong chance to cover the +2.5 spread.

Bucks +2.5

The Bucks, winners of four straight, face the Heat in an NBA Cup East Group B battle. Milwaukee (2-0 in the NBA Cup) has found its rhythm behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, who leads the NBA in scoring at 32.4 points per game, and Damian Lillard, who has averaged 9.3 assists over the last four games. The Bucks have won six of their last seven games, and their unselfish ball movement has been key.

Miami (1-1) is coming off a thrilling 123-118 overtime win over the shorthanded Mavericks, playing without Luka Doncic, led by Jimmy Butler’s 33 points. Butler has scored 30-plus points in back-to-back games, and the Heat are looking to build momentum after struggling early in the season. With both teams having championship aspirations but showing inconsistency, Milwaukee having Antetokounmpo playing at an MVP level should give the Bucks a favorable chance to cover the +2.5 spread.

Rockets +3

The Rockets (2-0 in NBA Cup West Group A) aim to keep their strong season going as they visit the Timberwolves. Houston (12-6 on the season) is coming off a 104-98 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, their second loss in the last nine games. The Rockets, led by Jalen Green (18.7 points per game) and Alperen Sengun (18.3 points, 10.6 rebounds), have been solid, but coach Ime Udoka is looking for improvement in half-court offense and defensive consistency.

Minnesota (8-8) is coming off a pair of close losses on the road, including a 107-105 defeat at the Boston Celtics. Anthony Edwards continues to lead the Timberwolves with 27.9 points per game, and the team is looking to rebound from a tough stretch. With all things considered, the Rockets appear poised to cover the +3 spread.

Lauri Markkanen Over 23.5 Points (-105)

Lauri Markkanen has been a scoring machine for the Jazz, averaging 25.8 points per game in his last five outings. He’s been dominant recently, posting 34 points in Utah’s 121-106 win over the Knicks on Saturday.

Markkanen is playing confidently and should be a focal point for Utah’s offense against San Antonio. With the Spurs struggling to stop opposing scorers, Markkanen has a good chance to surpass the 23.5-point threshold.
