There are five NBA Cup games on tap for Tuesday, including Kevin Durant’s return from injury when the Suns host the Lakers. With so many players to choose from, there’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings Sportsbook, including DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections ahead of tonight’s matchups.
Zach LaVine over 2.5 three-pointers made
Even though his days in Chicago might be numbered, Zach LaVine is still one of the more gifted offensive players in the NBA. This season, the guard is averaging 22.7 points on 52.1% shooting from the field. That’s due in large part to a terrific year from beyond the arc, where the eleven-year veteran is knocking down 3.2 three-pointers (44%).
The Bulls travel to Washington for a matchup that could have some fireworks; the over/under is at 245 points. Against a Wizards defense giving up 14.3 three-pointers per game (sixth-worst), Chicago will likely lean on their best scorer to make things happen. LaVine has hit this number in four straight games; there’s no reason to think he can’t do it again tonight.
Stephon Castle over 3.5 assists
The Spurs have dealt with several injuries to key players this year, but they’ve managed to stay afloat with a 9-8 record. Much of the credit needs to go to the improved play of Stephon Castle. The rookie struggled out of the gate, but he’s been playing better as of late, averaging 14.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists in his last ten contests.
Castle will get a juicy matchup on Tuesday when San Antonio travels to Utah. The Jazz are giving up 27.9 assists per game, fourth-most in the association. When these two teams last played on November 21st, the UConn product dished out six dimes. He’s well-positioned to hit that total once again.
Josh Giddey over 24.5 points + rebounds + assists
Josh Giddey isn’t much of a shooter, but the Australian has earned his reputation as one of the game’s better all-around threats. In his first season with the Bulls, the fourth-year pro is putting up 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and a career-best 6.6 assists. Against a porous Washington defense, the 22-year-old is set up for another stat-stuffing performance.
The Wizards have given up the second-most points (122.9 PPG), second-most rebounds (57.5 RPG) and eighth-most assists (27.1 APG) to opponents this season. Giddey has cleared this P+R+A total in six of his last ten games, each outing coming against stiffer competition. This is both a vote of confidence on the young guard and a fade of the defense he’s facing.
Rudy Gobert over 10.5 points
Normally, you’d want to back Rudy Gobert in rebounds or blocks. Although the Frenchman isn’t without some ability on offense, he’s never been known for his contributions on that end of the floor. However, he is putting up 10.9 points on 64.7% shooting.
Tonight’s game against Houston could be advantageous for the former All-Star. Even though the Rockets have given up the third-fewest points in basketball, they aren’t impenetrable for opposing centers. In each of his last five games in this matchup, Minnesota’s big man has tallied at least 12 points. At such a low total, this is a play worth making tonight.
Austin Reaves over 2.5 three-pointers made
Lost in the shuffle of all the star power in Los Angeles has been Austin Reaves. The fourth-year man has been the Lakers’ third-highest scorer, producing 17.4 points along with 3.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists over 34.4 minutes. With so much attention on LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the guard is always in position for a wide-open shot.
In tonight’s marquee matchup with the Suns, Reaves is set up nicely for some easy buckets. Phoenix has given up 15.7 threes over their past three games, second-worst in the NBA. AR15 has knocked down three or more long balls in six of his last eight appearances. All signs are pointing to another stellar showing for Los Angeles’ secret weapon.
Julius Randle over 6.5 rebounds
It’s been a solid debut season in Minnesota for Julius Randle. The former Knicks star has adapted well to life with the Timberwolves, generating 21.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists through sixteen games. He’s been especially good as of late, tallying 20 points or more in five straight outings.
The Rockets are one of the league’s worst rebounding teams, giving up 54.2 RPG to opponents this year (sixth-worst). In his last five appearances against Houston, Randle has snagged an average of 8.0 boards. The three-time All Star should find a way to be productive on the glass in what should be a highly competitive game.
