What to watch on TV during Thanksgiving week

It’s Thanksgiving week, which means travel, spending time with family and some time off from work. But what if you need to escape from your family for a little bit? What if you can’t take any more stories from your “wacky” Uncle Ted? What if you just need something to watch on TV? Luckily, there’s plenty to watch in the sports world throughout the week, including NFL games on Thursday and Friday and plenty of college hoops.

Here’s a breakdown of what to feast on during Thanksgiving week:

Monday, November 25

Thanksgiving week kicks off with the start of the Maui Invitational. Two-time defending National Champion UConn takes on Penny Hardaway’s Memphis Tigers at 2:30 p.m. ET with fellow blue blood North Carolina closing out the hardwood action in Maui at 11:30 p.m. ET against Dayton. And since it’s a Monday that also means Monday Night Football, as it’s the Harbaugh Bowl, with Jim’s Chargers hosting John’s Ravens. Of course, you can get ready for Monday Night Football on DraftKings Network by tuning into Pregame PowerUp with Trey Wingo for expert analysis, data and more.

Tuesday, November 26

The Players Era Festival makes its debut on Tuesday in Las Vegas. The event says on its website that it is “committed to providing $9 Million in NIL to college basketball players in 2024 for their engagement in activities separate and apart from competition, and more than $50 million in NIL over the next three years.” teams competing in the inaugural tournament will include San Diego State, Creighton, Oregon, Texas A&M, Houston, Alabama, Rutgers and Notre Dame.

Meanwhile, the Maui Invitational rolls on, as will the Emirates NBA Cup in the pros. We’ll also see two college hoops blue bloods duke it out (pun intended) as Kansas takes on Duke in the Vegas Showdown.

Wednesday, November 27

The annual Battle 4 Atlantis gets underway in the Bahamas, highlighted by Gonzaga taking on West Virginia. Meanwhile, a champion will be crowned in Maui and there are a couple of nationally televised NBA games.

Thursday, November 28

Thanksgiving Day may be a holiday, but that certainly doesn’t mean the world of sports is taking the day off. After you finish up with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, you have plenty of sports to choose from with a pair of college basketball games set to tip off at noon, with more Battle 4 Atlantis action on tap as well as the championship game for the Players Era Festival at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Of course, Thanksgiving is known for its football. There are three games on the slate, with the Bears kicking things off in Detroit against the Lions at 12:30, followed by the Giants going to big D to take on the Cowboys and wrapping up with the Dolphins trying to break their cold curse in Green Bay in the nightcap.

Friday, November 29

The holiday week wraps up with a day chock full of sports.
