The Raptors are on the second leg of a back-to-back on Monday, but I think they are catching too many points against a Pistons team that’s likely to be without their best player. Toronto fell to 4-13 on Sunday in Cleveland, but the 17-1 Cavs are a tough test for anyone in the NBA right now.
While the young Raptors aren’t winning, they are playing teams tight and covering. Toronto has been priced as an underdog in every game its played this season, sitting at 11-6 ATS. I was surprised to see the Raptors catching so many points in this spot, but it’s likely just due to the back-to-back. However, I’m not too concerned about a team like this being able to get up for a game on consecutive days.
Cade Cunningham was injured on Thursday night, and missed Detroit’s last game — a double digit loss to the Magic. Cunningham is listed as doubtful for this one, which takes away the engine of this Piston offense. Detroit is just 2-4 ATS as a favorite this season, including 0-2 ATS as a home favorite — failing to cover by 7.5 points per game in those two home outings.
I like this scrappy Raptors team, which got an outright win over the Timberwolves as a seven-point dog on Thursday, to play a tight one in Detroit. There’s upset potential here if you want to play some on Toronto on the moneyline as well.
