NFL Best Bets: Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams Best Prop Bets for Week 12 Sunday Night Football

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

To cap off another busy Sunday of football, the Philadelphia Eagles will face off with the Los Angeles Rams.

Philadelphia had a bit of an uneasy start to the season following last season’s collapse but it has looked to be back on track in recent weeks. It enters this game on a six-game winning streak. The Eagles rank seventh in the NFL in scoring and fifth in yards, have allowed the sixth-fewest points and the fewest total yards across the NFL this season.

Los Angeles enters this game with a 5-5 record but has won four of its past five games. The Rams rank 21st in scoring, 17th in yards tallied, 22nd in points allowed and 23rd in yards allowed. They sit just one game behind the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West entering Sunday, so this will be a big game for Los Angeles.

The Eagles enter this game as 3-point favorites in the matchup and -155 on the moneyline. The Rams are +130 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 48.5 points. With the stage set, here are my favorite prop bets for the Sunday night clash.

Jalen Hurts Anytime Touchdown (-130)

There is an argument to be made that Jalen Hurts’ anytime touchdown is the best bet across the entire NFL on a week-by-week basis. In the 10 games he has played this season, Hurts has tallied 11 rushing touchdowns, which trails only Derrick Henry for the most in the NFL. He also tallied 15 rushing touchdowns last season, which was tied for the second-most in the league. Hurts has scored on the ground in seven of the 10 games so far this season after reaching paydirt in 11 of the 17 games last season. Hurts has also scored a rushing touchdown in five consecutive games leading into this matchup.

The “tush-push” steals all the headlines and is a huge part of why this is so profitable but Hurts impresses as a rusher beyond that. He is more than capable of ripping off a QB draw or zone read for a chunk of yards and scoring. This level of touchdown production has continued even while playing next to Saquon Barkley, who has eight rushing touchdowns of his own, the sixth-most in the league.

Heading into this matchup, the Rams rank 22nd in points allowed and have only held an opponent below 20 points in a game once this season. Hurts will be the primary scoring option in the red zone whenever the Eagles reach this point. With the Eagles’ offense clicking on all cylinders and the Rams’ defense struggling, expect this to occur regularly and for Hurts to reach paydirt once again. Getting -130 odds for an anytime touchdown is great value considering how prevalent his scoring opportunities have become.

A.J. Brown Over 88.5 Receiving Yards (-125)

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to be without DeVonta Smith this week as he recovers from a hamstring injury. In addition, the Rams’ defense struggles greatly to defend the pass. They rank 22nd in passing yards allowed, 25th in passing touchdowns given up and 29th in net yards per pass attempt.

All of this points to a major day of production for A.J. Brown. The three-time Pro Bowler has tallied 33 receptions for 618 yards and three touchdowns already this season while missing three games. Brown has averaged 4.7 receptions and 88.3 receiving yards per game.

Brown will see plenty of defensive attention sent his way but will have a size advantage across the Rams’ secondary. Jalen Hurts trusts him to go up and make a play and he will have a few opportunities to make this happen tonight. Expect Brown to receive double-digit targets for the second game this season and don’t be surprised if this ends up being his best game. Look for him to eclipse 88.5 receiving yards through the air just as he has done in four of the seven games already.

Cooper Kupp Under 64.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Injuries have unfortunately become an all-too-familiar storyline surrounding Cooper Kupp. The Pro Bowl WR has been limited to six games this season after missing five games last season and eight the season prior. Across the six games Kupp has played, he has tallied 47 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns.

While he is averaging 81.3 receiving yards per game, expect the Eagles’ secondary to have something to say about this. So far this season, Philadelphia has held opponents to the second-fewest passing yards per game. Rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell will likely be tasked with Kupp as his primary matchup and he has been wildly impressive this season. Just last week, he held Terry McLaurin without a catch in the 20 snaps he lined up against him after he had 704 receiving yards entering the game. Mitchell has not allowed more than 25 yards in a game since the Week 5 bye. He also allowed just one catch for five yards to CeeDee Lamb, two catches for 15 yards to Ja’Marr Chase, one catch for 10 yards to Amari Cooper, and two catches for 19 yards to Mike Evans. Per Next Gen Stats, Mitchell is allowing just .5 yards per coverage snap, which is the second-best rate of all corners in the league.

Cooper Kupp is set to be the next wide receiver to enter “Quintanomo Bay” and struggle in this game. While he will likely be moved around the offense and see some targets, don’t expect Kupp to make much of an impact in this game. He has been held to less than 64.5 receiving yards in two games this season, and expect tonight’s game to be added to the list.

Saquon Barkley’s Longest Rush Over 16.5 Yards (-120)

Saquon Barkley has been the biggest difference-maker in the Eagles’ offense this season. The two-time Pro-Bowl running back is second in the NFL in rushing this season, trailing only Derrick Henry, with 1,137 rushing yards already this season. Barkley has received double-digit carries in each game this season, averaging 19.7 carries per game, and has only been held below 108 yards rushing in four games.

While he is averaging 5.8 yards per rushing attempt, this often comes via attrition. Barkley continually picks up small chunks of gains before eventually finding an opportunity for a massive gain. So far this season, he has recorded a rush of over 16.5 yards in seven of the 10 games.

In addition, the Rams have struggled to stop the run this season. They rank 18th in rushing yards allowed and have allowed more than 100 rushing yards in eight of the 10 games this season. Expect the Eagles to lean on Barkley heavily and for the former Giants star to burst free for over 16.5 rushing yards at least once tonight.
