While NFL Sunday will steal most of the headlines, there are six games on the NBA slate today.
The first matchup will be tipping off at 3:30 PM EST and is taking place between the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards will be facing off at 5:00 PM EST before the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers as well as Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks each tip off at 6:00 PM EST. At 7:30 PM EST, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors are set to play. There will be only one late game tipping off at 9:00 PM EST, which takes place between the Brooklyn Nets and Sacramento Kings.

Anthony Edwards Over 3.5 Made Three-Pointers (+100)
The Boston Celtics are attempting an average of 50.2 three-point shots per game, over five more per game than any other team in the league. This is also a notable uptick from the 42.0 three-point attempts they averaged last season, which also led the NBA. They have leaned further into this being a clear part of their championship DNA.
Expect Anthony Edwards to be tasked with combating this perimeter battle as he has followed a similar path for increasing his three-point volume. The two-time All-Star is attempting 11.1 three-pointers per game this season, with his previous career-high being 8.4 per game. Edwards is making 43.1% of these long-range attempts for an average of 4.8 made three-pointers per game. He has made over 3.5 three-pointers in 12 of the 15 games this season.
While Boston does a nice job chasing opponents off the perimeter, trading two points for three is a losing formula when playing the Celtics. Look for Edwards to have his three-point volume as a key focus here. He has attempted at least six three-pointers in every game this season and tallied double-digit attempts in 10 of the 15 games. Look for this trend to continue today and for Edwards to knock down four or more three-pointers against the defending champions for the 13th time this season.
Tyrese Maxey Over 21.5 Points (-120)
The Philadelphia 76ers have dug themselves a significant hole to start this season, sitting at 3-12 and in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. They will now face off with the Los Angeles Clippers and continue to be without Joel Embiid, who battles through his lingering knee issues. Paul George will also miss this game due to the second bone bruise he has sustained in his knee this season. Tyrese Maxey has also faced injury issues this season and missed six games with a hamstring injury over the past two weeks. The All-Star guard returned to the lineup on Wednesday but was limited to 19:38 of game time due to a minutes limit. He then suited up again on Friday and was on the court for 26:30 of action.
Maxey should be expected to see his minutes further grow today. The star Sixers guard was tied for second in the NBA in minutes per game last season at 37.5, so he will surely see plenty of opportunity once the medical staff allows it. Even despite the limited minutes last game, Maxey finished with 26 points and shot 11-of-17 from the field.
While the Sixers will not reach their potential for a team this season unless Embiid and George get healthy, for the time being, this team belongs to Maxey and Jared McCain. The two young guards have brought a necessary jolt of energy and unwavering confidence to this Sixers team. Expect both to play a key role in tonight’s game, but the most value is in Maxey scoring over 21.5 points. The Kentucky product averaged 25.9 points per game last season and is averaging 25.2 points per game when he has played this season. Expect him to see closer to his normal workload in his third game back from injury and for Maxey to have no problem clearing this number, which he has done in seven of the nine games he has played this season.
Bam Adebayo Under 17.5 Points (-120)
It has not been the start to the season Bam Adebayo has desired. The three-time All-Star center is averaging 16.3 points and 9.5 rebounds, which are each a step back from last season’s production. Adebayo is also shooting just 42.6% from the field after shooting 52.1% last season and 54.3% for his career. Some of this has been shot selection, with Adebayo attempting a career-high 2.6 three-point attempts per game, and some of it has just been the Kentucky product coming up short of his expected production.
Heading into today’s matchup, the Heat are set to face off with the Dallas Mavericks. Jimmy Butler will be making his return for Miami while Luka Doncic remains out for Dallas. The Mavericks are holding opponents to 109.9 points per game this season, which is the seventh-best rate in the NBA. Dereck Lively II will be tasked as the primary defender for Adebayo and is not an easy matchup. The second-year big man is averaging 1.5 blocks per game this season, which is tied for the 10th-best in the league. Lively has a massive 7-foot-7 wingspan and is more than capable of moving on the perimeter as well.
There will be better days ahead for Adebayo, but expect his struggles to continue in this game. The Heat big man has been held to less than 17.5 points in eight of the 13 games he has played thus far. Expect Miami to attack primarily through Butler and Tyler Herro as Adebayo remains in the backseat of the offensive attack.
De’Aaron Fox Over 37.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists (-115)
While he has not gotten the necessary shine just yet, De’Aaron Fox has gotten off to an All-NBA level start to the season. So far, he has averaged 28.8 points, 5.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds while playing some impressive defense. Fox had back-to-back games last week, scoring 49 and 60 points and has made it clear that the Kings go as he goes.
Sacramento is set to face off with the Brooklyn Nets tonight in the final game of today’s slate. The Nets have exceeded expectations to start the season, but they rank 20th in opponents points per game. They do not have a player capable of matching Fox’s pace of play, so expect him to lead the attack for the Kings.
So far this season, Fox has tallied over 37.5 combined points, rebounds and assists in nine of the 16 games he has played, including each of the past five games. Expect this level of impressive play to continue against an inferior opponent and for Fox to eclipse 37.5 points, rebounds and assists once again.
