Here are Joe Mixon’s current prop bet lines at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 86.5 rushing yards, o/u 2.5 receptions and o/u 17.5 receiving yards. Mixon is -215 to score a touchdown, +255 to score 2+ touchdowns and +230 to score the first touchdown of the game.
Joe Mixon is having an incredible season for the Texans. He has brought a missing element to their offense that held them back last season. C.J. Stroud was constantly in obvious passing downs last season because Houston had no real run game. The addition of Mixon and his incredibly high production level has elevated the Texans to real Super Bowl contenders. Mixon has exceeded 100 rushing yards in six out of eight games this season and has 11 total touchdowns across those eight games.
The only two games where Mixon has gone for under 100 rushing yards have been the only two games this season where the Texans have been underdogs of over a field goal. It is not a coincidence that in those games, against Green Bay and Detroit, Mixon’s production dropped off because the Texans needed a pass-heavy approach to compete with those offenses. This matchup against the Titans is much more comfortable for the Texans. Houston should be able to contain the Titans’ offense with ease and call a run-heavy game script to control the clock and time of possession.
For those reasons, Mixon clearing 86.5 rushing yards is my favorite prop bet for this game. Mixon has gone over this number by a decent margin in six out of eight games this season and there is no reason to indicate that he will slow down anytime soon. Mixon is averaging 23.9 carries per game over his past five games and with that many carries, he should wear down this Tennessee defense and be able to break a couple of big runs like he did last week against Dallas.
