Rashod Bateman ($5,400)
Rashod Bateman further cements his status as a value MVP. The former first-round pick has struggled to carve out a consistent role in this passing attack, but he’s shown flashes of brilliance. Lingering injuries have been an issue, but drops and fluctuating outputs have hurt his progression as a pro.
The 24-year-old is a dangerous threat on the outside, who can burn corners down the sideline or use his stellar leaping ability to jump up and win 50-50 balls. He’s also finding the end zone at the best rate of his career, matching his touchdown total through his first three seasons in 11 games this year.
Baltimore might prioritize pounding the rock, but it has the best EPA per pass play in the league. Bateman can create separation quickly but has recently fared much better against zone coverage. Jim Harbaugh’s side plays a lot of matchup zones, with ample disguises used to confuse opposing signal callers. This is a tremendous matchup for Bateman, who can find the pockets of the defense and act as an outlet underneath.
Joshua Palmer ($5,200)
Is the Josh Palmer bounce-back ever coming to fruition? In a revamped, pass-catching group, Palmer is the constant who has shown plenty of promise as a complimentary option. He’s been unable to adjust to his new role further up the depth chart on a squad desperate for its weapons to step up.
Palmer is a crisp route runner with quick lateral movement. However, he isn’t getting open enough to make an impact. Palmer only generates a few targets per contest, but he’s playing 64 percent of the offensive snaps. With a superstar signal caller looking his way, Palmer has the opportunity to break out of this slump.
Baltimore is 26th in EPA per pass, so LA should be leaning on its aerial attack. If Palmer’s open, he’ll get the rock.
